No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.
Hebrews 12:11, NLT
"I'm only doing this because I love you."
How often do you recall hearing this statement from your parents while growing up? A statement your parents used when they had to administer painful discipline to you in the form of a spanking, time-out, or the removal of a treasured toy. A statement shared because they knew the discipline administered might hurt you physically, emotionally, or relationally, but they had to say it to help you grow. A statement you understood years later because if the discipline had not occurred, you would not be the responsible adult you are today.
Like a good parent, there are times when God has to administer painful discipline to his children. Discipline we may not always appreciate when it happens because it hurts to receive it. But as we grow up in our Christian walk, we learn to appreciate the discipline he administers to us along the way, because it builds our character to help us become the person he desires us to be.
Are you experiencing the discipline of your heavenly father in your life today for something wrong that you have done? Then remember - He's only doing it because He loves you!

Jeaninne
Prayer: Father, thank you for loving me enough to discipline me when I need it the most. Amen.
