Monthly Dispatch

March 2023

crocuses_in_spring.jpg

Hello D42,Greetings!

Welcome to the March issue of District 42’s Monthly Dispatch for the 22/23 Toastmasters year.

March is when spring officially begins and many people turn their clocks forward for daylight savings time. Unofficially we might still have some leftover snow.

Now that Leadership training is done, it's time to enjoy the contest season. Starting from the club, going through the Area and the Division, it will all culminate at the District Hybrid Conference. Are you challenging yourself by competing or supporting our district leaders by helping organize the contests?

District 42 has started monthly Orientation to Pathways meetings for new members. If your club doesn't have a mentorship program, it might be a good place for them to start.

I want to challenge you, creative souls in our District to participate in the PR Contest. We are waiting for your submissions.

Would you like to read about anything specific in the future? We are excited to hear your feedback. Send your comments to Vesna Ivkovic - D42 Dispatch Designer

MESSAGE FROM DISTRICT DIRECTOR

March - Month of Madness

Bev LeBlanc, DTM District Director, D42 2022-2023

March is a month of renewal, growth, and change. As the winter months come to a close, the days become longer (YAHOO!) and the air becomes warmer (sometimes). Spring is on the horizon and with it comes the promise of new beginnings and fresh starts-tulips break ground and the smell of newly-mowed lawn is in the air.

Upcoming Motion Regarding Contests - Eugene Sicat,D42 PQD

For some years now, we have been continuing to hold our Fall Contest even though TI advised, on July 1, 2018, the cancellation of the Fall Conference. Since then, we have seen increased pressure and stress on leaders organizing and holding contests. This occurs at the Club, Area, Division, and District levels.

Creating Content Online

Cramped for time? Consider allotting 2-3 hours one day a week/bi-weekly/monthly, dedicated to creating and scheduling posts. Most social media sites allow you to schedule a post for a later date; this allows you to free up time in your schedule, so you do not have to commit time every day.
