Illustrated History of

the Soo Locks

A deep dive into historic photos dating back to the 1860s to review the construction of the eight locks built on the St. Marys River linking Lake Superior with the lower Great Lakes. Chief Park Ranger, Michelle Briggs, puts them into the context of world and US events. Also includes an update on the 9th navigation lock currently being built.

Fairy StoryWalk at Whiting Park

We will walk along the trail and read the book. At the end of the book, a fairy will emerge from the woodlands to greet us.


We are trying to keep the fairy appearance secret, so please don't mention it to any children attending beforehand unless you think they need to know. :)

Keep an eye out for POP-UP library events and workshops for children. We will be announcing these cool programs on social media throughout the summer, rain or shine.


We also will be pumping-up our Tuesday Storytimes with weekly craft activities! Meets every Tuesday at 10:30am. Ages 3-5.

The Friends of the Boyne District Library run a used book shop in the library and do occasional book sales and other events to raise funds for library programs. If you want to support the library, there is no better way to get involved, as a member or a shopper. :)
