It was a busy 2018, and I am proud of our board and staff for their dedication and commitment to our mission. I wanted to take a moment to reflect on The Arc of Aurora's 2018 successes and to advise you of an important 2019 program addition.

Annual Scholarship Applications
It's scholarship application time! The Arc of Aurora Board of Directors has again budgeted funds to offer two different scholarships to qualified The Arc of Aurora Contributing Members.  
Click on the links below to read the eligibility requirements and to apply for a scholarship.

Applicants MUST be a 2018/2019 Contributing Member (paid $30 or volunteered for Membership) and meet specific criteria which are outlined in the application. Deadlines listed on the applications are strictly followed. If you need assistance completing an application, contact your The Arc of Aurora advocate or Erica Dennison at 720-213-1420.

Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

In celebration of DD Awareness Month, we encourage you to educate your community and spread awareness. Be on the lookout for an email from us sharing information about our DD Awareness Month get-together.

Sunday Bowling Get Together
Did you know that The Arc of Aurora hosts a Sunday bowling league? This year's season is underway and ends on May 19, 2019. Everyone of every ability is welcome to join anytime. Click here to learn more about location, time, and cost.

 Policy Profile

The Dali Lama said, "A lack of transparency results in distrust and a deep sense of insecurity,” a sentiment many involved in the Colorado IDD system can relate to. After decades of suspicion and concern from the community and confusion under the golden dome, 2016 Legislative leaders passed Senate Bill 16-038 . This bill examined, by way of audit, Colorado’s 20 Community Centered Boards’ (CCBs) processes and structures.

Spotlight On
-Our Holiday Season Donors-
Wow! November and December 2018 were very exciting at The Arc of Aurora. We are grateful to all who supported our members and the organization.

We couldn't have done it without you!

Holiday and Thanksgiving Projects
The holidays can be tough for many we help, but generosity and thoughtfulness reached many this past holiday season because of incredible donors. The Arc of Aurora's 2018 Thanksgiving Project filled 101 Members' tables, and the Holiday Gift Giving Project provided 91 Members' holiday gifts. THANK YOU to our donors for making such an impact in the lives of the people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families!

Colorado Gives Day
Thank you to everyone who supported The Arc of Aurora as part of our fifth Colorado Gives Day campaign on Tuesday, December 4, 2018. It was our best year yet with 45 people and organizations showing their support to raise $4,030.00 . Thank you to everyone who made a contribution to help us make a difference in the community!
