Administrators' Update

Welcome JMS Dragons!

I am so excited to welcome our sixth-grade students back to JMS, and our fifth graders to JMS for their first year of middle School! I hope that everyone had a safe and relaxing summer. It sure did go by quickly! We are all looking forward to a great year at JMS.

We have several new faces joining our staff, both in the teacher and administration departments. Dr. Rosemary Nelson is joining my administration team, serving as the assistant principal. You can learn more about her by reading below. Mrs. Jena Myers has also moved to JMS from Harmony Elementary and will be serving as the MTSS/PLC Coach, working with teachers and students in providing interventions and professional development to help all of our students and staff.

While we only have our students for two short years, we hope to help set them on a path to reach their full potential, academically, socially, and behaviorally! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your village in supporting and working with your children. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher if questions or concerns arise. Go Dragons!

Dr. Rosemary Nelson joined Jasper Middle School after serving as a teacher and administrator at Pickens Junior High School. She started her career as a 5th-grade teacher in Bartow County in 2001.

Dr. Nelson grew up in New Jersey but has lived in Georgia most of her life. She received her undergraduate degree in Accounting and then went on to complete her teaching certification from Barry College. To further her education she attended Walden University to earn her doctorate degree.

Dr. Nelson feels education should be an enjoyable learning experience with the collaboration of the entire community, parents, students, and staff.

During her free time, Dr. Nelson enjoys spending time with her three grown children and six grandchildren, hiking with her dog, and reading.

As I begin my 27th year in education, I am looking forward to working with the wonderful staff and students again this year. While my role is to support teachers, I love interacting with students as well.
