A Message From Our Director

To Our Dear Community,
We are deeply grateful for your commitment to the Shrine’s mission. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of others through your generosity.
I would like to introduce our new Rector Fr. Ramil Fajardo as he begins his new ministry at the Shrine starting July 1st, 2021. Fr. Ramil was born in Manila, Philippines in November 1964 and immigrated to the US in 1970. He attended Ascension Catholic School and Oak Park - River Forest High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History at UIC in 1986 and Paralegal Certification at Roosevelt University in 1990. In 1999, he entered the seminary at Saint Mary of the Lake in Mundelein and was ordained on May 22, 2004. His first assignment was at St. Clement Church in Lincoln Park. In July 2009, he returned to St. Mary of the Lake to pursue advanced studies in Sacred Theology. In 2010, he was sent to Canada to study Canon Law at Saint Paul University of Ottawa, Ontario and earned a Canon Law Licentiate.
On January 15, 2013, Fr. Fajardo joined Holy Name Cathedral and began his duty as a judge of the Metropolitan Tribunal. In July 2017, he received additional duties as Director of Liturgy and Cardinal’s delegate for Saint James Chapel and the Archbishop Quigley Pastoral Center. He regularly celebrates Mass and Confessions at the Cathedral and has been assisting other parishes with their needs when possible.
Fr. Fajardo will share more about himself when he begins writing his own blurbs in the newsletter.
As we progress and move into the future, I pray and trust that with your support we will forge ahead with courage and enthusiasm. We assure you that the Shrine will most certainly reach out to our brothers and sisters who need our spiritual and emotional support.
“With God all things are Possible.”
Please join me in welcoming Fr. Ramil Fajardo!

God our Father, giver of life, we entrust the United States of America to your loving care. You are the rock on which this nation was founded. You alone are the true source of our cherished rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Reclaim this land for your glory and dwell among your people.
Send your Spirit to touch the hearts of our nation's leaders. Open their minds to the great worth of human life and the responsibilities that accompany human freedom. Remind your people that true happiness is rooted in seeking and doing your will.
Amen.

Holy Hour Honoring Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, Soldier Field, September 22, 1946
|
Celebrating Chicago's Citizen Saint
More than 50,000 people witnessed Mother Cabrini's canonization on July 7, 1946 at St Peter's Basilica in Rome.
In Chicago more than 120,000 people filled Soldier Field on September 22, 1946 to honor the city's "special patron and advocate."
For perspective, after renovations, Soldier Fields current capacity is only a little over 61,000 people.

Preserve the Memory of a Loved One on
Mother Cabrini's Wall of Remembrance
Among the gems within the Shrine is Mother Cabrini’s Wall of Remembrance (located up the chapel stairs and to the right). Plaques on the wall are a beautiful and sacred way to honor those you love and is something that remains forever.

Have you Considered a Recurring Gift to the Shrine?
Recurring giving is when a donor chooses to make a regular,
ongoing donation instead of a one-time gift.
The gift can be made in any amount of your choosing and you indicate the frequency - weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually.
This way of giving provides the Shrine with a reliable stream of revenue and allows us to plan more long term. For you, it is a beautiful way to express your devotion and generosity to Mother Cabrini, our Missionary Sisters and to the Shrine.
If a recurring gift is a practical option for you, please click here
If you have questions or require additional information regarding Mother Cabrini’s Wall of Remembrance or in making a recurring gift to the Shrine,
kindly contact Sr. Bridget at 773-360-5733 or Barb Willis at 773-360-5746.
The Shrine is reliant on your support so that we can continue our mission in bringing God to people and people to God. All of us here at the Shrine remain deeply grateful for your support. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
