Pastor's Update

Hi Parkway --

As we're all finding our way into a post-summer rhythm, I wanted to send you a few ways you can plug into a smaller group at Parkway. Gathering together on Sundays is a great way to worship, learn, and get ready for the week ahead. Smaller groups are a great way to build relationships, ask questions, and go deeper on your journey of faith.

Here are some easy to jump into Smaller Groups that are starting back this week:

Men's Breakfast/Bible Study meets at 7am tomorrow, September 9th, at Rudy's (20500 Southwest Fwy, Richmond, TX 77469). It's a laid-back time of breakfast tacos and discussing Scripture.

Wednesday Night Bible Studies are all starting back from 6 - 7.30pm this Wednesday, September 10th! Those groups include:

  • 4:12 - a time of fun, games, and Christian formation for kids and students in grades 4th – 12th.
  • Adult Bible Study - a backwards study of the Gospel of Luke. We'll start at the end and work our way to the beginning of Luke's gospel. This is a group designed for people at all levels of familiarity with the Bible. All questions welcome!
  • Parkway Kids - a Children's Bible study for littles up to 3rd grade. Mrs. Becky will teach the kids a short lesson with plenty of play time after. No sign-up needed.

All Wednesday groups take place in the Ministry Center building!

Grow Groups

Throughout Parkway's history, the foundation of our Smaller Groups have been Grow Groups that meet weekly or semi-monthly for discussion or studies. Grow Groups are starting back up after the summer — these groups are meeting this Sunday:

Grace and Grit will meet upstairs in the Den after the 10.30 service.

NEW: The Families with Young Kids, (Official Name TBD) will start back up after the summer this Sunday! This group started to get off the ground before school let out, and will meet this Sunday to check-in and discuss the sermon. They will meet in the Ministry Center Chapel after the 10.30 service. If you're a family with young kids looking to connect with other families, this is a great place to jump in. Childcare and snacks/light lunch are being arranged.

Step-by-Step invites anyone who's interested to hear from a guest speaker joining their group this week. Alvin Stern is a Jewish historian and anthropologist and will give a presentation called "Coins used in Judea at Christ's Time." He will speak about and have some coins from that historical period. Step by Step meets in Room 126/128 in the Ministry Center following the 10.30 service.

One last note — If you are looking to connect with a Smaller Group or a Grow Group and are interested in starting something new, please talk to me. I would love to help you build a group where you and other Parkway people can connect!

Have a great week and I'll see you soon!
