Dear #JustPay Supporters –
Wow. We are still feeling the joy, hopefulness, and energy of yesterday's incredible #JustPay rally. We were blown away by the more than 1,500 (!) human services workers, elected officials, and supporters who turned out to City Hall Park and raised their voices for equitable pay for our essential workforce.

Thank you to every organization – large and small! – that came out in force for #JustPay. And an extra shout out to Queens Community House, Urban Pathways, and University Settlement for bringing more than 100 workers in support!
We are so proud to join with you to build this movement to win long overdue supports for the frontlines workers who supported communities throughout COVID-19 and beyond.

We've already had some great press hits from the rally. Make sure you read about the coverage in PIX11, Spectrum News, and keep an eye on our HSC news page for more as they're posted!

We'd like to thank a few people, without whom yesterday would not have been possible:

Thank you to Maria Lizardo, our emcee extraordinaire, for leading the rally and keeping the crowd energized.
Thank you to all our amazing worker speakers who shared their stories. We were so inspired by Chan Henry (Urban Pathways), Johanna Ortiz (Public Health Solutions), Hawa Diaby (Good Shepherd Services), Ivette Ayala (Sheltering Arms), Benice Mach (Chinese-American Planning Council), LiJin Thomas (Volunteers of America-Greater New York), Kanya Flowers (Little Flower), and Michale Philip (Sheltering Arms).

Thank you to our electeds who showed up in solidarity at yesterday's rally as well. Thank you to Councilmembers Althea Stevens, Farah Louis, Lincoln Restler, Oswald Feliz, Carmen de la Rosa, Tiffany Caban, Diana Ayala, Crystal Hudson, Amanda Farias, and Kevin Riley, as well as Comptroller Brad Lander.
Thank you as well to our rally Organizing Committee without whom yesterday would never have been such a success: Queens Community House, Urban Pathways, NMIC, Volunteers of America – Greater New York, BronxWorks, RiseBoro Community Partnership, SCO Family of Services, JCCA, JASA, University Settlement, BCS, CPC, Heights and Hills, Good Shepherd Services, Violence Intervention Program, The Child Center, The Children’s Village, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens, Project Renewal, Supportive Housing Network of New York, and Northern Rivers.
Yesterday was just the beginning. We are ready and fired up to continue this fight until we've achieved long overdue #JustPay for ALL essential human services workers in New York. Thank you for being a part of our movement.

Our fearless emcee Maria Lizardo said it best: “This work is hard, but we do it with love & compassion. Now we need #JustPay.”

Thank you for being a part of this movement! We look forward to continuing this fight alongside our members, supporters, and this incredible workforce.

Sincerely,
The Human Services Council of New York
