While in Nashville for the CSG Justice Center Advisory Board meeting in October, Director Megan Quattlebaum and Interim Behavioral Health Division Director Hallie Fader-Towe toured the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office’s Behavioral Care Center (BCC). This unique program is a short-term, alternative-to-incarceration, residential treatment setting that serves people with mental health needs or substance use disorders. The project is a collaborative model that includes the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the Metropolitan Public Defender’s Office, and the District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutor offices that are interested in exploring how they can better connect people with behavioral health needs to community-based care can check out Propelling Change: A Prosecutor Call to Action, which provides prosecutors with research, resources, and guidance on how to best work with people with behavioral health needs.
