Connecting with Local Industry Professionals
5x5 STEM Industry Session
Our 5x5 Industry Session kicked off our STEMworks™ Internship last Thursday, June 6! Our interns from across the state were able to have one-on-one conversations with 30 industry professionals. They were encouraged to push their limits by setting their goals higher and higher!

Thank you to all of our 5x5 Industry Professionals for taking the time out of your busy schedules to meet our 2019 STEMworks™ Internship Cohort!
Shine at Your Interview!
Mock Interview Session with NEPRIS
You got the call, they want to meet you. How do you make sure you're selling your story?

With the help of Nepris, Moloka’i intern Peyton Gillespie and Maui intern Kalila Philips wowed their “real life interviews” from experts like Tiffany R. Paige, J.D., from Mississippi College School of Law 🏫💼and Anthony Russo, from Capital One 🏦!

The mock interviews provided new opportunities of connecting our young people to high level companies' human personnel who provided useful feedback to the individual and all our interns.

A couple questions asked were:
  • Name three characteristics that describes yourself?
  • What are some challenges you have faced?

Brand Yourself
Resume and Branding Session
"Branding" oneself is being able to capture the attention of your future employer with your cover letter and resume. This is an important skill to have that can help you advance to the next level of the hiring process. STEMworks™ interns learned the importance of appearance, proper communication, maintaining professional relationships, body language and nonverbal communications. Make your best first impression to anyone!

Our interns have a wide variety of interests pertaining to STEM which helped them when it was time to pair up and revise each other's resumes. With their different strengths and weaknesses, they were able to help each other on writing, designing, and encouraging one another to not be afraid to show their skills on their resumes!
Here are some helpful tools from our presenter, Traci Rosario!
Skit the Process!
