A Note From Our Director

We are thrilled to announce the launch of Cloudbreak Music Festival! This is both a music recovery initiative and a music tourism initiative underwritten and produced  by King County Creative and Visit Seattle, in partnership with our local live music venues. Check out the lineups at the Cloudbreak Music Fest website. Anyone who rents a downtown hotel room between 11/3 and 11/23 will receive a pass for any and all shows scheduled during their downtown hotel stay. Come out and support our local musicians. See you at the shows!

News & Updates

King County Creative was delighted to sponsor the Seattle Film Summit again this year as it proves to be an extraordinary event that brings together our film community and industry for education, networking, and opportunity development. Our teammate Brooke rocked the Harbor Island Studios booth and we met many filmmakers eager to work in Harbor Island Studios. Yesterday, some of them joined us for a tour.

King County Creative is a proud partner in promoting the Music’s In Our Blood campaign.

Black Fret has curated a very special free show to help inspire folks to donate critically needed blood.

MUSIC MOVES US…BLOOD BONDS US.

Black Fret & Bloodworks Northwest present a special evening of music and conversation featuring musicians Shaina Shepherd, Shelby Earl, Daniel Pak and Mark Pickerel hosted by Crosscut Managing Editor Mark Baumgarten.

The musicians will perform songs from across their catalog, discuss the Seattle music community, the ongoing blood shortage our region is currently facing, the importance of diversity in the blood supply, and how we can band together to increase blood donations and contribute to the health and vibrancy of our community.

About Bloodworks NW

Since the beginning of the pandemic, blood donations have decreased nearly 35%. The blood inventories at our region’s hospitals are critically low. Every two seconds someone needs blood. And it takes 1,000 donors a day – from Eugene to Bellingham – to provide the hospitals the blood they need for trauma, cancer and other diseases or situations that could impact our friends, family… or even one of us. Slight of Hand Cellars SODO in partnership with Black Fret, Bloodworks Northwest and the music community – via the campaign, Music’s In Our Blood – is proud to be hosting Shaina Shepherd, Shelby Earl, Daniel Pak and Mark Pickerel and moderated by Crosscut Managing Editor Mark Baumgarten for a special performance on Thursday, October 27. In an effort to educate, inspire and call to action our community to consider donating blood, this free concert is a platform for a conversation on how we can work together to ensure a healthy community. Our goal of the Music’s In Our Blood campaign is 20,000 new and re-engaged blood donors by year’s end. For more information about the campaign and to schedule a blood donation today go to www.bloodworksnw.org/music

Seattle’s Getting A New Film Commission

We look forward to collaborating with the City of Seattle as they breathe life into the Seattle Film Commission, newly approved by Seattle City Council. Just as filmmaking is a team sport, so is film industry development. King County Creative and the EFAB (Executive’s Film Advisory Board) look forward to partnering with the Office of Economic Development and the soon to be appointed Seattle Film Commissioners to generate new opportunities for our local film industry.

STATION SPACE LAUNCHED

We were honored to be involved in the Station Space launch at King Street Station on 10/13/22. Totem Star is developing its space first, and other organizations will follow. Funded by the City of Seattle and the Cultural Space Agency, this is a new approach to utilizing City property at King Street Station to establish centrally located permanent homes for multiple creative youth development organizations.
