Kings is Back on the Ballot
As you probably already know by now, the Kings District has a 4.7 mill bond issue on the March 17, 2020 ballot.

Out of 20,000 registered voters in the Kings Local School District, there was only 36% turnout of registered Kings voters and 51% overall turnout in Warren County in November 2019. Did you know that in a primary election, you do not need to declare a party to vote for the issues? Watch the video below for more information.

Here is some voting information for you: The last day to register to vote or update your address for the March 17 Primary Election is February 18 . Click here to register, update your voter registration information, and/or make sure you are registered. You can request an absentee ballot by visiting the Warren County Board of Elections . Early voting begins on February 19 at the Warren County Board of Elections, 520 Justice Dr., Lebanon, OH 45036.

You can also download the Ohio Voter Info app which allows you to check if you are registered, your polling location, and much more! You can find the app in your phone's app store.

Kindergarten Registration Begins Feb. 10
Kindergarten Registration for the 2020-2021 School Year will begin in on February 10. All registrations will be by appointment only and can be made through FinalForms.

National School Counselor's Week
This week we celebrate our school Counselors! National School Counseling Week is celebrated to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors with U.S. school systems.

We are so thankful for our school counselors who have a tremendous impact in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.

BPA State Finalists
Members of the Kings High School Business Professionals of America (BPA) recently competed in the BPA Regional competition. Good luck to the seventeen KHS students who qualified to compete at the State level March 12 and 13 in Columbus.

The students who qualified for State are: Maxwell Smith, Max Taylor, Ethan Bennett, Adam Hoover, Guy Cooper, Riley Scott, Charles Schoenberger, Lydia Ball, Victoria Wesloh, Jillian Middleton, Megan Davidson, Eric Klaber, Urte Kirieliute, Brooke Rayburn, Amber Reveal, Adam Spelic, and Caleb Chunn.

The Kings High School BPA students are taught by Cassandra Barnes, Reggie Holtrey, Stephen Lickert, and Kelly Shields.

KHS Winter Athletic Signing
Two student-athletes from the Kings Football program made their official commitments to universities at the Kings Athletic Department’s Winter Signing Day on Wednesday, February 5 at Kings High School. 

Families, coaches, teachers, administrators, and teammates attended the signing event to witness these student-athletes sign their letters of intent. Not only were these students great on the gridiron, they were impressive in the classroom with a cumulative grade point average of 4.00.

KJH Lunch Buddies
Kings Junior High School started a new program this week called "Lunch Buddies." Twice each week, typical KJH students eat lunch with students with special needs to create a more inclusive lunch environment. Additionally, on Wednesdays, the students in the Special Needs classroom are joining the other students for games during their imPACT time.

It's been deemed a success as everyone is enjoying spending time together forming new relationships! #relatecreateinnovate
KHS Students of the Month
Kings High School has named their students of the month for February. At the beginning of each month, five students are recognized based on the five Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) at the high school. Those pillars are RESPECT, ACCOUNTABILITY, INTEGRITY, SERVICE & ENTHUSIASM.

Congratulations to February winners Cody Smith (Respect), Kole Kerchief (Accountablility), Aaron Groff (Integrity), Kaleigh Cooke (Service), and McKenzie Blair (Enthusiasm).
Dead Serious About Life
A Mason, Ohio group of teens from the group, Mishpachah, a non-profit group who travels 8 months out of the year to perform a production called "Dead Serious...About Life" will be performing locally at the end of this month.

This production is presented by youth for youth. The music, lyrics and dialogue are vibrant and reflect the culture and diversity of American teens today. Although the main story line is teenage suicide, it also deals with all the other issues that teens today are facing like drug addiction, sex, bullying, cutting, alcohol abuse, self-esteem, and teen pregnancy, Unlike other musicals, “Dead Serious” presents real life to the kids.

“Dead Serious ... About Life” is coming to Mason, OH! It will be performed at the Mason Middle School on Saturday February 29 at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday March 1 at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $6.00 in advance or $7.00 at the door.

Distracted Driver Program Coming to KHS
The Kings After Prom Committee  is proud to bring  Save a Life Tour's Distracted Driving Program   to Kings High School on Tuesday, February 19. 

With massive posters on display, high intensity videos rolling on huge monitors and charismatic presenters engaging participants and onlookers alike, no one will leave unaffected! Students will have an opportunity to hear a group presentation but then drive simulators and experience from a sober perspective the effects of alcohol and texting on motor skills and reaction time.  

This program travels the country and has presented at over 1500 different colleges and universities as well as over 600 high schools. They've also worked extensively with the military to present their program to The United States Pentagon, Navy and Marine Headquarters in Virginia and many other bases in the U.S.

FREE Community Art Night
You are invited to join us for our 3rd FREE Community Art Night on Wednesday, February 12 in the Kings High School Cafeteria from 5:30-7:30 p.m..

The Kings Community Art Nights are an opportunity for adults, young children and families to come and enjoy a free activity involving the arts.

During this free art night we will be celebrating Valentine's Day by creating tissue paper luminaries that you can keep or give as a gift. There will also, be a group project that you can be a part of!

This Free Art Night will give you the opportunity to make something for yourself, but also make something for someone else.

College Credit Plus
Reminder that more information on the College Credit Plus Program is available on February 11 from 6-8 PM at the Princeton Administrative Center located at 3900 Cottingham Drive in Sharonville. At this event, several local colleges will present their offerings and a Kings representative will be on hand to answer your questions. We will also offer more information on College Credit Plus during the KHS Academic Fair on February 13 beginning at 6 PM.

Nominate a Deserving Kings Teacher
The Warren County Area Progress Council is seeking nominations for the 2020 Project Excellence Award.

The APC seeks to recognize and honor excellent teachers within the public schools in Warren County. We ask your assistance in identifying exceptional educators who demonstrate excellence in instruction or innovative teachers who have pioneered a teaching method. The educator must hold a current teaching certificate and work for the public school system.

Nominations are due by February 28, 2020. Previous winners include Julianne Elder, Hope Milthaler, Abby Burroughs, and Karin Gonzales and they are currently ineligible for consideration as previous winners.

Mobile Mammography Van at Kings
The Mercy Health/Jewish Hospital mobile mammography van will be in the Kings Local School District to offer screening mammograms for our female community members. Mammography screening takes approximately 10-15 minutes and will be available at our schools March 10, 11 & 12.

Hindi/Telugu Community Night
Please join us on February 10 in the Kings Education Center at 1797 King Avenue, Kings Mills, OH from 6:00-8:00 p.m. to learn more about the Kings District and meet other Hindi/Telugu speaking families!

Information will be provided by an interpreter and cookies and refreshments will be provided.
Distinguished Alumni Applications
Kings High School is now accepting nominations for the 2020 KHS Distinguished Alumnus.

The committee is seeking graduates of Kings High School who have made a significant impact in their communities and professions and serve as exemplary role models for Kings Students. This award is a celebration of the entire Kings community, highlighting the past as the foundation for the future.

Kings Preschool Registration for 2020-2021
Registration for Kings Preschool are now being accepted. The preschool/childcare program meets in the Kings Education Center (KEC).

Kings Preschool offers both preschool and childcare for 3-5 year olds. All programs are licensed by the Ohio Department of Education.

Garage and Bake Sale for Kings Band
Clean out your garage and attic and donate to the Kings Band and Guard Garage Sale.

All donations are tax deductible. We will accept Small Furniture, Housewares, Clothing, Toys, Collectibles, and Much More (All donations must be in good working order, please.)
Donations may be dropped off at the J. F. Burns Cafeteria on Friday February 7 beginning at 6:00 p.m. and will be accepted until 9:00 p.m.. Please come to door A-5.

Don't Miss BandCakes
Join Kings Bands as they host this year's Pat Cope Memorial BANDcakes Breakfast. It will be held at Kings High School on Saturday, March 14 from 7:30 a.m.-noon.

All you can eat pancakes are on the menu and you can also enjoy performances by various Kings Bands and music ensembles.
Cost is $8.00 per person. Children ages 5 and under are FREE!
Also that day, the Kings Band Boosters will be collecting used instruments for this year's Instrument Drive. Sponsored by Kaylyn's Hope Chest, a non-profit organization in memory of former Kings Band Student, Kaylyn Daumeyer, honors her memory by making instruments available to members of the community who cannot afford an instrument. The collected instruments are serviced and loaned to students who would like to join any of the Kings band programs.

KHS Independent Study Recital - Heart & Song
Join the Kings Choir Family on February 16 to enjoy a recital given by future performance majors Erin Abney (acting), Katie Hill (musical theatre), and Grant Shields (voice).

Erin, Katie, and Grant spend 7th bell every day at Kings High School in an “Independent Study in Performance” class where they practice and prepare to enter their respective college programs. They have chosen their repertoire, provided the program notes, worked to increase their stamina, and considered the posture and presence they should have in a recital format.

The event will take place at 3:00 p.m. in the KHS Cafeteria and will include treats and surprises along the way for those who attend at a cost of $8 per person.

Kings Dance Team Pajama Jam!
Join the Kings Dance Team for an evening of fun, including dance routines showcased for friends and family at the end of the evening.

Participants of this year's Pajama Jam will enjoy a pizza dinner and dessert. It all takes place on Thursday, February 13 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. in the Kings Junior High School Gym. Wear your pajamas and the Kings Dance Team will provide the fun!

Lady Knights Fastpitch Pre-Season Clinic
The Kings Women's Softball Team will be hosting a pre-season hitting clinic on Saturday, February 22, 2020. The clinic is open to players ages 5-14.

The clinic will take place in the Kings Education Center Activity Center (barn) and the cost is $35 which includes a t-shirt.

Kings Youth Baseball & Softball Registration
Registration for the 2020 Kings Youth Baseball and Softball (KYBS) season is underway! Teams in the KYBS programs compete at many different
levels of competition and age groups, beginning with Tee Ball up through 18U.
