Dear Park Spanish Immersion School Community,
 
We hope this finds you well during the middle of our PTO-sponsored "Leer-a-tón."  I enjoyed connecting with many families at our night on Tuesday.  John Coy did a great job talking about the writing process.  He said that one book has taken him almost twenty years to write, and he also spoke about perseverance....and the book rejection process.  It was a great reminder to strive for your dreams and to keep trying!!  Keep reading!
 
Yesterday, our classrooms were filled with orange clothing as we stood together as "Upstanders" in St. Louis Park.  In addition to being kind to others, we want students to not be bystanders; we want them to stand up and help others when they see unkind behavior--and to let adults know.  We have a wonderfully proactive counseling curriculum in St. Louis Park.  All of our PSI students receive large group lessons around these and many other age-appropriate messages.  To learn more, visit the website.
 
A few reminders....Tomorrow, we will celebrate the start of the school year with our classroom "Fall Fiestas."  I look forward to seeing many family members.  Please note, we do not have classes next Friday, November 2nd, as our teachers will be engaged in district professional development.

Please note the following office hours when someone is available to 'buzz' you in to the building:  
 
Door #1
PSI's office hours are 7:45 am - 4:00 pm.
 
Door #1 
Central Community Center's office hours are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.   
 
Prior to the times above, and after 4:30 pm, families may enter the building through the east door (door #21) by the Kids Place office. 
 
Door #21 
Kids Place office hours are 6:30 am - 6:00 pm
 
Both Door #1 and Door #21 are unlocked for community events after 6:00 pm.

TODAY, October 25 is the LAST DAY for the PTO-sponsored Scholastic Book Fair, open from 3:00 - 8:00 pm!
 
Don't miss the last day to help support our school fundraiser as well as providing updated, enriching books to our kids and for their classrooms!

Reminder 5th Graders Baby Photo for Yearbook 
 
5th grade families,
 
Please submit your child's baby/ toddler photo for this year's yearbook. Send either a hard copy photo to the office or your child's classroom (labeled on the back with your child's name and teacher, in an envelope marked "Yearbook") or a high resolution jpeg image to [email protected] , with your child's name and teacher in the subject line.
 
All submissions due no later than Friday, November 2, 2018.

The fall Box Tops for Education submission deadline is November 1st!
 
Please turn in any Box Tops you've collected to your child's teacher, or the PSI main office.
 
Consider asking family and friends to collect box tops for PSI as well!  It's amazing how quickly the points add up and benefit our students!
