December 15, 2022

Dear Park Spanish Immersion Elementary School Community:

It was wonderful to have community members share about our school at Immersion Information Night last Thursday. As a reminder, current and prospective families with incoming kindergarten students must fill out the application form online by February 14 at 4:00 pm.

I'm looking forward to playing "lightning" basketball with our students to celebrate the great academic and financial success (supporting our Amity intern program) of the PTO-sponsored Leer-a-tón.

As we are approaching winter break, please know how grateful I am to partner with you on behalf of our 530 amazing children. So many community members show up in different ways to make PSI a place where students and families can learn and grow together. I feel so blessed to be a member of this community. I also wanted to recognize that due to a generous donation by a family in our school, all lunch debt has been erased for PSI families. ¡Muchas gracias!

Take good care, enjoy the winter break, and I look forward to our collaboration in 2023 on behalf of your children and all of our children.

Sincerely,

Corey

LAST WEEK - December Food Drive!

Hello families of PSI! The 5th graders have different opportunities for leadership for different stuff, such as Assembly Leaders, Environmental Leaders, Service Leaders, etc. The Service Leaders have come together to do a donation for STEP.

STEP is an organization that helps those who are less fortunate enjoy things like anyone else. We donate things such as food, hair products, medical kits, and more. When we donate food it has to be non-perishable. For example, ramen, rice, pasta, pasta sauce, beans, applesauce, and chips. The stuff you donate to STEP has to be new or they cannot accept it. Your child’s class will have a box to put the donations in.

How to donate is easy! Your child brings a STEP donation in their backpack and places it in the box in their classroom. The last day for donations is December 17. Thank you.

Silent Auction Planning Kick-off Meeting

Hard to believe, but it is already time to start planning for our spring silent auction. Every March we hold an online silent auction to raise money for Amity and other PTO programs. It takes lots of volunteers to make it successful. We are having our first meeting on Tuesday, December 20th at 6pm. Please reach out to psivolunteers@gmail.com if you are interested in joining the Silent Auction Team. We can give you more details on our meeting and what to expect moving forward. If you cannot make this first meeting, we'd still love to have your help. This is a great opportunity to meet and collaborate with other PSI parents. As always, new parents and new ideas are very welcome.

PSI PTO Science and Imagination Fair

The 2023 PSI Science and Imagination Fair is scheduled for Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 6:00-7:30 pm in the PSI gym. The goal of the Science and Imagination Fair is to encourage all families to participate and nurture our children's love of science and imagination! Keep in mind that projects do not have to be a science project either. Past projects have included catapults, test plants and sculptures, to name a few. Winter break is a great time for your child to begin working on their project. Each child will have half a table to display their project. The gym will be open as early as 4:00 pm the day of the fair for participants to begin setting up. For those wishing to register their child, please use the link located at:

https://forms.gle/kXZnj8B4Qhn1TQoP9

We look forward to seeing you all on January 17 and what your children create for the fair.
