From School Leadership

October 31, 2024

Dear Park Spanish Immersion Elementary School Community:

We hope this finds you well! Our kindergarten students ventured to Westwood Hills Nature Center yesterday for their first field trip to learn about habitats. It sounds like they had a great learning experience!

Next Tuesday, November 5 is a professional development day for staff, and we will not have classes. One of the sessions for the day is working with district grade level teams focused on progress reporting.

Our students will participate in "Student Voting" on Monday, and they will cast their ballots next Monday during physical education class. In preparation, all students are learning about elections and the voting process in an age appropriate way. We are talking about multiple perspectives and respecting everyone, which is tied to our PSI Values of:

  • We welcome each other
  • We care for each other
  • We stand up for each other
  • We respect each other

Congratulations to our community for the massive success of this year's PTO-sponsored Leer-a-tón! It is great to see how much our students are reading, and we are grateful for the financial support for our Amity Intern program! We hope to see you next Thursday evening for our annual PTO-sponsored "Family Fun and Fitness Night" at the St. Louis Park High School football field. Please see below for more information about these and other happenings around our school.

Thanks for sharing your children with us, and for being members of our community.

Take care, and have a great week.

In partnership,

Corey Maslowski, Principal

Megan Paulis de Rangel, Assistant Principal

Important Drop Off and Pick Up Reminder

As a reminder, all before school drop offs and after school pick ups must go through the kiss and ride lane at door 3. For students safety, please do NOT pick your students up at the main office. Due to buses, walkers, and bike riders, we need everyone to pick up in the line and not in front of the office. Please remember to pull all the way forward in line, and use the proper turn lanes when exiting.

Tuesday Was Our Last Garden Club Meeting of the Season!

We celebrated by planting autumn-bearing thornless raspberry plants and wrapped up with a fun round of garden trivia! The kids loved testing their knowledge with questions like:

 True or False?

Garlic belongs to the onion family. (True)

The Three Sisters are broccoli, corn, and beans. (False - the 3 sisters are SQUASH, corn and beans)

Some bees, like mason bees, prefer to nest in small holes rather than hives. (True)

Our garden now boasts 28 garden beds, ready to be filled with beautiful memories and plants.
