December 1, 2022
Dear Park Spanish Immersion Elementary School Community:
We hope that you had a great long weekend!
It's been a fun week of learning! Our students are really enjoying the snow! Last Tuesday, we had an engaging all-school assembly to kick off La Copa Mundial (The World Cup). Please see here for some pictures. Our first grade students delighted us with their amazing Drum Calls in the Afro-Colombian tradition. See here for the slides, and here for photos. Today, our second graders are going to The Children's Theater to see "Carmela Full of Wishes." Thanks to all of our staff members who help plan and implement these great opportunities for our children!
As a reminder, we do not have classes tomorrow, Friday, December 2, due to professional development.
Keep reading at home, and thank you for being members of our community.
Sincerely,
Corey

December Food Drive!
Hello families of PSI! The 5th graders have different opportunities for leadership for different stuff, such as Assembly Leaders, Environmental Leaders, Service Leaders, etc. The Service Leaders have come together to do a donation for STEP.
STEP is an organization that helps those who are less fortunate enjoy things like anyone else. We donate things such as food, hair products, medical kits, and more. When we donate food it has to be non-perishable. For example, ramen, rice, pasta, pasta sauce, beans, applesauce, and chips. The stuff you donate to STEP has to be new or they cannot accept it. Your child’s class will have a box to put the donations in.
How to donate is easy! Your child brings a donation in their backpack and places it in the box in their classroom. The last day for donations is December 17. Thank you.
-Emma and the 5th Grade Service Leaders

Do you know about the PSI Pizza Siren?
Last school year, Parkway Pizza donated over $900 to PSI PTO as part of its Dine Out for Schools program to give back to the community. Parkway donates 5% of sales on the first Wednesdays of the month to PSI. Dine-out, delivery, or carry-out. It all counts! No code needed.
Want to participate but need a reminder? Whenever you hear the MN Tornado Siren Test at 1pm on the first Wednesday of each month, know that all orders that day earn money for PSI PTO!
