Dear Park Spanish Immersion Elementary School Community:
JOY! It has been pure joy to welcome our students to this new school year! They are likely tired as we work with intentionality to build community and practice procedures to ensure that everyone feels safe and secure at school. We look forward to partnering with each of you on behalf of our amazingly brilliant 533 students as we work to actualize our Mission, Vision, Core Values, and Strategic Plan; please see here for more information.
Each Thursday, we will send school, district, PTO, and community information through La Prensa. See below for many important details.
See here for a few pictures from this week.
Take care, and thank you for sharing your children with us.
In partnership,
Corey Maslowski, Principal
Megan Paulis de Rangel, Assistant Principal

Elders' Wisdom, Children's Song
The fifth graders are taking their Elder's Wisdom songs on tour! Sr. Davis, Sra. Wieber, and the fifth grade class were selected by the Minnesota Music Educators Association (MMEA) as one of the only elementary groups in the state to share their project and songs with music educators at the annual MMEA conference on Friday, February 14th (mark your calendars now)! Sr. Davis and Sra. Wieber will provide more details about the session and transportation as the date approaches.
For new fifth grade families:
All of the fourth graders in St. Louis Park participate in Elders’ Wisdom, Children’s Song (EWCS), a program that incorporates community, history, education, and celebration through storytelling, song, and spoken word. Each fourth-grade class adopts an elder from the community who will share his or her story. Each elder’s story is recorded, analyzed, and interpreted by students. Then, inspired by the life story of the elder, each class writes a song or spoken word piece that they perform to honor the elder. The PSI fifth graders will perform the songs they created last spring during the MMEA conference next February, as referenced in the previous paragraph. Sra. Wieber and Sr. Davis will help new students learn about the elders and the songs so they can participate in this rewarding experience. Current fourth grade students will begin to plan for this year's EWCS project in January.
