Important Kiss & Ride Reminders

NEW!  Please note the newly marked exit lanes.  Vehicles are asked to use the correct turn lane when exiting the upper parking lot for Kiss & Ride morning drop-off AND afternoon pick-up. Please see photo for reference.

General Kiss & Ride Procedures:

  • Families are asked to keep/use their Kiss & Ride car tag from year to year.
  • Families needing a replacement car tag should contact Kathy in the office at 952-928-6555.
  • For everyone's safety, children should only get out or in the passenger side of the car and not walk around the car.
  • Please do not buckle your child in the pick-up line. After your child is in the car you can pull forward to the front of the line, then assist with buckling. This will help keep the line moving behind you.
  • If you need to make a transportation change after your child has left for school, please call the office. Often teachers are unable to listen to voicemails or check emails until after dismissal.

Child Tax Credit Information

Families with no income or low income could get at least $3,000 per child with the Child Tax Credit, plus $1,400 with the third stimulus payment - even if you have never filed taxes before and if you have not filed taxes this year.

Deadline is November 15, 2022: Tax documents are not required. If you want to claim additional money with the EITC, you will need your W-2(s) from your employer. Fill out this easy form on your computer or cell phone mobile in 15 minutes or less: getctc.org

More than 33,000 children in Minnesota could miss out on this money if their parent/guardian has not filed.

Mayor for a Day Essay Contest

What would our cities look like if kids were in charge? The League of Minnesota Cities is holding its annual essay contest to find out! Open to students who are in the fourth, fifth, or sixth grades this school year, entries for the 2022 Mayor for a Day Essay Contest can be emailed, submitted online, or postmarked by Dec. 12.

This year’s essay question is: Cities provide a variety of services and programs that make our lives better, including parks & rec, street maintenance, water and sewer, libraries, police, fire, and more! If you were mayor for a day, what would you do to make one of the services that your city provides even better? Contest information can be found at www.lmc.org/mayorforaday

Three winning students will be chosen from among submitted entries. Each winning student will receive $100 and will have their essay published in a future issue of Minnesota Cities magazine. Winners only will be notified in early January.

Welcome Amity Intern, Chris Méndez!

A special thank you to Rachel and Brian Jacobsen for hosting Chris this semester! And thank you to the following cousin families: Stacy & Josh Natzel, María Ponce-Khoury & Michael Khoury, and Robin & Jake Schleppenbach. Chris is assisting 3rd grade classrooms this fall.

My name is Chris, I was born in Bogotá, Colombia, but I grew up in Bucaramanga, also known as "the city of parks". I live with my mom, my siblings and my granny. I studied Foreign languages teaching with emphasis in English at the Industrial University of Santander, and I just graduated this year. I have a strong love for teaching, languages, and teaching languages! I am fluent in Spanish and English, and also proficient in French. I have worked as a teacher at language institutes and as a tutor. I like spending time with my family, friends, and my significant other, going to the Eucharist, reading about the saints, cooking, traveling, and listening to music. Some of my favorite genres of music include indie, classic rock, and disco music. I am looking forward to my experience in Minnesota so I can share my cultural perspective with new friends and acquaintances; I want to share information about Colombian cuisine, music, and our traditional dances. I want to learn about what life is like in the US, especially life in the classroom.

Lunchroom Volunteer Opportunities are Back!

We would love to have you come help our students in the cafeteria this year.  Tasks will include things such as, helping to open tricky food packages, handing out extra napkins or utensils, and wiping down tables. A maximum of two volunteers are requested for each time slot; there are two time slots per day, 11-noon and noon-1pm.  Feel free to sign up for one or both hours. Volunteers need to be parents or legal guardians. This is a fun way to get into the school and help out!
