From School Leadership

February 20, 2025

Dear Park Spanish Immersion Elementary School Community:

It was wonderful to see so many of you at our Connect Times last week. We hope that it was an opportunity to learn about your child(ren)’s progress, as well as next steps to help our children grow more. Please give your feedback on the experience here.

Our fifth graders showcased last year’s Elder’s Wisdom Children Song at the Minnesota Music Educators Association Conference last Friday. Thanks to Sr. Davis and Sra. Wieber for their continued leadership with this learning opportunity, and thanks to all who participated to highlight the great work happening at our school.

You are invited to our PTO Meeting in the Media Center at 6:00 next Tuesday evening. Child care will be provided.  Come get updates from our PTO and learn about how to help support your child’s reading at home from our Culturally Relevant Literacy Coaches.

Have a great week, keep reading, and thank you for sharing your family with us.

In partnership,

Corey Maslowski, Principal

Megan Paulis de Rangel, Assistant Principal

Meet the PSI Staff

In this section, we are featuring some of our amazing PSI Staff so the community can get to know every adult in the building as we work together to support each student at PSI!

This week we want to highlight three PSI staff members. Sr. Franco, Srta. Fernández and Srta. Kirk make up our amazing fifth grade team. We are so happy to have them here!

If you are interested in receiving a free weekly food package, please fill out this form or contact your child's teacher or our School Social Worker, Dana Baumeister. Paper brochures are also available in the front office. The program is confidential and the bags are put into backpacks discreetly to protect confidentiality. Our School Social Worker, Dana Baumeister, is the contact for PSI. Please call or email with any questions: 952-928-6561 or baumeister.dana@slpschools.org.

February A-E Day Calendar

Sharing Culture

Based on community feedback, we are adding a new section to La Prensa, Compartiendo Cultura (sharing culture). This section will highlight the many ways that we help students bring to life our SLP public schools’ vision statement, in becoming their best selves as globally minded contributors to society.

In this issue, we want to highlight our Somos Uno gathering! Last week, latino families gathered for a potluck. There were dishes from Mexico, Venezuela, and Columbia, among others! Thank you to those who joined us!
