June 6, 2024
Dear Park Spanish Immersion Elementary School Community:
Happy last week of school! Our High School Seniors participated in their High School Commencement ceremony last night at our Football Field. So many former PSI students and families shared memories of their time in our school district. We are confident that our recent graduates will accomplish many great things, and they will continue to enhance the spirit of our community!
This time of year is always filled with mixed emotions as we conclude one year and are busily preparing for next school year. At 12:45 today, we will celebrate with our fifth graders and family members as they conclude their K-5 elementary experience during our annual "Celebration of Learning." As our students transition from PSI, we thank them for being great leaders and learners, and we wish them well. For families who are transitioning from PSI this year, thank you for your contributions to our learning community. We are stronger because of each of you.
Tomorrow is the last day of school. We are sending all materials home today so that students do not need to bring anything other than a lunch, if you choose, for tomorrow.
We thank you for partnering with us on behalf of your children. May you have a safe, happy, and memory filled summer.
Most sincerely,
Corey Maslowski, Principal
Kelsey Clark, Elementary Support Supervisor
P.S. Progress reports will be sent in the mail by mid-next week.

Camp Emoji Summer 2024
Relate Counseling Center is proud to offer Camp Emoji for the Summer of 2024!
Camp Emoji is a 4-day, 3-hour social-emotional camp for elementary-aged kids that is designed to help students learn about, manage, and identify emotions. This program began in the summer of 2022 and each year we've been proud to be able to increase our offerings of Camp Emoji. This program is free to students grades kindergarten to 5th grade within 5 of our local school district partners and our community at large from our Eden Prairie Outpatient Office.
Each week, campers spend time together in community building, psychoeducation on 4 different emotions: sadness, joy, fear, and anger, and learning, practicing and building coping skills. The camp incorporates art, music, physical activity, quiet reflection, and social skills practice. We partner with camper's parents by sending them information regarding what their child has learned throughout their week at Camp Emoji as a way to encourage them to practice their skills and knowledge at home! This program continues to gain popularity and often has a waitlist to participate!

Park Public Schools & Community Foundation
Do you know about the Park Public Schools & Community Foundation (PPS&CF)? Every year, the PPS&CF raises funds & makes grants to teachers in preschool through high school for special projects that inspire & enhance our students’ education. In the 2023-2024 school year alone, the Foundation was able to make grants totaling over $58,000! Examples include paying for new play equipment for preschoolers, a potter’s wheel and slab at the Middle School, exciting field trips to bring classroom learning to life, a mobile makerspace, a kindness rocks garden project, innovative instruments combining engineering and music, and cutting edge technology bridging the physical education and science curriculums at the High School. We can’t wait to see what our teachers will do next school year with Foundation grants to make our students’ experiences even better! To learn more about the Foundation and how you can support our schools, please visit Park Public Schools & Community Foundation - St. Louis Park Public Schools Foundation (slppscf.org)

June is the beginning of Pride Month!
LGBTQIA+ Pride Month is celebrated each year in the month of June. Historically, June is significant because of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. This was a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the U.S. However, there have since been many more strides in the LGBT movement throughout the years. We celebrate the diversity in our school community!

Spring Fundraising Wrap-Up
Through the combined effort of the entire PSI community, we raised a final total of $10,000 during our Spring Fundraising Drive! This amount, combined with the amounts raised throughout the 2023-2024 school year brings our year-end fundraising total to $75,000! Which means that we raised enough money for a full slate of PTO events next year as well as fully funding our Amity Intern Program. Thanks to you, next year we can look forward to a new group of Amities in our kids’ classrooms, as well as movie nights, the Science and Imagination Fair, Leer-a-ton, Carnaval and so much more! Thank you again for your generosity!

¡Gracias, Amity Interns & Amity Coordinators!
The PSI PTO would like to extend our warmest gratitudes and wish fondest farewells to all of the Amity Interns that have graced our school’s halls this year. This past Sunday, Amity host families, cousin families and friends gathered at Oak Hill Park to celebrate the year and all that we’ve accomplished during it. Special thanks to Paige Young and Susan Croom, our two outgoing Amity Coordinators for all you’ve done to keep this unique and extraordinary program running. The team is still looking for one or more volunteers to step into a coordinator role alongside their experienced team next year. If you’re interested, email psiamity@gmail.com. The entire Amity Coordinator team has done a tremendous amount of work in making it possible to have these interns teach in our classrooms and homes all year long. ¡Gracias a todos!
