October 5, 2023
Dear Park Spanish Immersion Elementary School Community:
We hope that you've had a great week! It was great fun to watch our amazing children on the new playground/outdoor learning space on the west end of our property. In addition to the fun play space, we have three outdoor learning spaces and a garden area. We are grateful to our taxpayers for their support of this space as a part of our last referendum. Yesterday and today, students learned about bus safety. Thanks to Park Adam for their collaboration! See here for a few pictures. Next Monday is Indigenous Peoples' Day. Within our school, we will observe the day and the contributions of Indigenous people.
See below for a lot of other important information. Keep reading, and thanks for sharing your children with us!
Sincerely,
Corey Maslowski, Principal
Kelsey Clark, Elementary Support Supervisor

Application to Host Now Open! Amity Interns - Spring of 2023
Each year PSI welcomes eight Amity Interns from Spanish speaking countries who assist our teachers in the K-5 classrooms. You will be hearing more from your grade level Amity Intern, in the coming days. These interns are either pursuing or have recently completed a college degree with an education focus, and are between the ages of 20-30 years old. Amity interns live with PSI host families one semester allowing both an opportunity for greater language learning and cultural exchange. Please consider hosting an Amity Intern for a semester! We still need several spring host families for our wonderful interns. This is a unique and wonderful experience that can benefit your entire family. Plus, it's a great way to give back to the students, staff and entire community. Want more info? Please check out the FAQs or email us at psiamity@gmail.com.
Ready to sign up? Email us at psiamity@gmail.com or fill out this application and we’ll reach out to you!
Your Amity Coordinator Team,
Susan Croom, Kelly Marinello, Kevin Russell, Paige Young

Help Provide Meals for PSI Staff During Family Connect Times
Families, the Fall Family Connect Times are almost upon us. Looking for an easy way to get involved in the PSI community? This is it. Providing meals for our amazing staff at PSI is a great way to show them how much we appreciate all they do for our kids.
Connect Times are scheduled for Tuesday, October 17th and Wednesday, October 18th. We will be doing catered/pot-luck style meals both days for ~65 people. Tuesday will be a pasta dinner with a salad bar and Wednesday will be a brunch-style menu, including an assortment of bakery items. Both will be buffet-style so that staff can pop in to serve themselves during a break in conferences.
Please consider signing up here to either supplement a meal or volunteer your time.

Lunchroom Volunteer Opportunities are Back!
We would love to have you come help our students in the cafeteria this year. Tasks will include things such as, helping to open tricky food packages, handing out extra napkins or utensils, and wiping down tables. Two volunteers are requested for each time slot; there are two time slots per day, 11-noon and noon-1pm. Feel free to sign up for one or both hours. Volunteers need to be parents or legal guardians. This is a fun way to get into the school and help out!
