From School Leadership

May 1, 2025

Dear Park Spanish Immersion Elementary School Community:

We hope that you’re having a great week!

We are excited to share the rescheduled date for our fourth grade Elders’ Wisdom, Children’s Song performance is Thursday, May 8 at 6:30pm in the PSI Gymnasium. A quick reminder that parking is limited, so please plan accordingly if you are attending this event.

As the weather can be unpredictable at this time of year, please ensure that your children have layers of clothes for inside and outside. Speaking of clothing, please check out the “Lost and Found” area next time you are in the building, and ensure that your name is on the inside of any and all articles.

Have a great week, and keep reading!

In partnership,

Corey Maslowski, Principal

Megan Paulis de Rangel, Assistant Principal

Rescheduled Date – Elders' Wisdom, Children’s Song

We are excited to announce that Elders' Wisdom, Children's Song has been rescheduled for Thursday, May 8 at 6:30pm in the PSI Gymnasium. Fourth grade students should arrive at 6:15 pm and should go directly to their classrooms.

PSI Garden Updates

Garden Club is off to a fantastic start this spring! Students in grades K–5 have been hard at work planting a wide variety of spring vegetables, herbs, and flowers. Thanks to classroom teachers, students, and families, our raised beds are also growing peas, carrots, radishes, strawberries, and asparagus! The garden is full of so much life—be sure to check it out with your child!

Save the Date: The PSI Plant Sale is happening on Friday, May 9, from 2:15–4:00 PM after school. Stop by Door #1 to shop a beautiful selection of flowers, vegetables, and herbs. All donations support the PSI Community Garden, see QR code below.

Presale Available!

We have many healthy plant starts ready to be planted now. If you're interested in early crops like broccoli, cabbage, chives, and more, contact Kylie Urriche (urriche.kylie@slpschools.org) or Becky Nielsen (nielsen.rebecca@slpschools.org) for details.

May A-E Day Calendar

Sharing Culture

In this issue, we want to highlight our first grade classes who had a very special visitor this week! Harley, a ten year old wheaten terrier, is a therapy dog. He works across diverse populations and in a variety of settings including hospitals, hospice care, and schools. He provides support and healing for many, and also happens to be the neighbor of one of our very own students here at PSI. Thank you to Harley and his owner for visiting and sharing a little bit about what they do!

Sign up for a Strategic Plan Focus Group

St. Louis Park Public Schools is building its next 5-year strategic plan (2025–2030), and we need your input to ensure it reflects the lived experiences of all families.

While we’ve received valuable input from many community members, we recognize the critical importance of including more perspectives from our Black, Asian, and Indigenous families.

PINK Consulting, LLC invites Black, Asian, and Indigenous families to participate in a confidential focus group to share how the last strategic plan – centered on racial equity – impacted you and your student(s).

Attend the Virtual Strategic Plan Family Share Out

Over the past several months, we've gathered insights from students, staff, families, and community members to help shape the future direction of St. Louis Park Public Schools.

Join us Thursday May 8, 2025, from 5:30-7 p.m. as PINK Consulting shares out the strategic plan findings to the community. This event will highlight the key themes, priorities, and feedback gathered, and offer a chance to see how your voice is informing our next steps.
