From School Leadership

October 4, 2024

Dear Park Spanish Immersion Elementary School Community:

We hope that your family has had a great week! We enjoyed connecting with many families at last Thursday's 2024 Welcome Night! Please fill out this feedback form to give us your perspective on the night in English or Spanish.

This week, we have had a lot of engaging activities to support our PTO-sponsored Leer-a-tón! It was great to see so many students excited about the book fair, Bingo, and Amity story time! On Wednesday, we had a K-2 and a 3-5 assembly sponsored by our PTO to learn with authors Stephen Shaskan and Tricia Speed Shaskan! See here for a few pictures. They told the students the process they use for creating stories (content and illustrations), and they co-created characters and storylines with our students' help. They talked about perseverance in the book process, and that everyone can do it! Please ask your child about this experience!

Thanks to all the families and students who have been participating in building our garden beds. There was a great turnout last weekend. We are so excited for the many learning possibilities for our students. Thanks to the many staff members involved under the leadership of Becky Nielsen and Kylie Urriche!

In partnership,

Corey Maslowski, Principal

Megan Paulis de Rangel, Assistant Principal

PSI GARDEN UPDATE!

We are truly at a loss for words after last Saturday's build day!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who showed up—it was incredible to see our community come together with a common goal. We were blown away by everyone's hard work, and a special shout-out goes to the kids! What a gift to see them take ownership of their school space in such a powerful way. Here's to the power of community and the lasting impact we can make when we work together!

Follow our Facebook page for garden updates and more information: El Jardín de PSI. We are looking forward to a spring filled with outdoor, hands-on learning opportunities with our amazing students!

Celebrating National Principals' Month!

As we recognize National Principals' Month, we want to extend our gratitude to the incredible leaders who guide our schools each day. Our principals are the heart of our school community, nurturing a space where staff, students, and families feel supported, safe, and inspired. They are not just administrators; they are advocates for every student's success, champions of equitable practices, and role models for lifelong learning.

Upcoming LEER-A-TÓN (read-a-thon) Events

LEER-A-TÓN

Leer-a-tón is the annual read-a-thon to excite kids to read, raise awareness and funds for the amity program, and build community. Students set a reading goal, ask sponsors for donations, and read (mucho) between September 27-October 11.

This year, all students who return their reading tracker and participated in reading, will win a kids meal with ice cream. The class with the most participants wins a field trip (K-2: bowling, 3-5: Ice skating)! Read all 15 days to be entered to win more great prizes. Keep reading PSI!

Send your student’s reading tracker back to PSI by October 15.
