From School Leadership

September 28, 2023

Dear PSI Community Members:

We hope that you have had a great week! We loved meeting with many families at Oak Hill Park on Tuesday evening for the PTO Fall Kickoff.

At 6:00 p.m. this evening, we will send out a Special Edition La Prensa so that you can sign up for Fall "Connect Times." The purpose of these meetings is to share information and collectively plan to help your child grow this year. The meetings will take place from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17 and Wednesday, October 18 from 7:20 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.

During the first weeks of school, we continue to focus on routines and classroom community. Leaning into Restorative Practices and Responsive Classroom frameworks, we are also focusing on these school values in all of our spaces:

  • We welcome each other.
  • We care for each other.
  • We stand up for each other.
  • We respect each other.

Thank you for sharing your amazing children with us, and thank you for being members of our community.

Have a great week, and keep reading!

Sincerely,

Corey Maslowski, Principal

Kelsey Clark, Elementary Support Supervisor

General illness and COVID-19 procedures

St. Louis Park Public Schools will continue to follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) regarding COVID-19 during the 2023-24 school year. COVID testing is recommended for individuals with COVID symptoms. Tests are currently available at school. Students/staff testing positive for COVID-19 should stay home a full 5 days and return to school on day 6 if their symptoms have improved & they have been fever free for 24 hours without taking fever-reducing medication. They should wear a mask through day 10. For more information on illness prevention and COVID-19 procedures visit: https://www.slpschools.org/about/departments/health-services

Help Provide Meals for PSI Staff During Family Connect Times

Families, the Fall Family Connect Times are almost upon us. Looking for an easy way to get involved in the PSI community? This is it. Providing meals for our amazing staff at PSI is a great way to show them how much we appreciate all they do for our kids.

Connect Times are scheduled for Tuesday, October 17th and Wednesday, October 18th. We will be doing catered/pot-luck style meals both days for ~65 people. Thursday will be a pasta dinner with a salad bar, and Friday, a brunch-style menu including an assortment of bakery items. Both will be buffet-style so that staff can pop in to serve themselves during a break in conferences.

Please consider signing up here to either supplement a meal or volunteer your time.

PSI Spiritwear Store Is Open!

Come check out our spiritwear store. This is where you can purchase both PSI and general SLP apparel with a part of the proceeds going back to support the PSI PTO. There are some great options available this year from sweatshirts and t-shirts to hats and tumblers. Store will be open until Oct 6th with delivery the week of Oct 30th. https://www.parkprints.com/slp-psi

Lunchroom Volunteer Opportunities are Back!

We would love to have you come help our students in the cafeteria this year.  Tasks will include things such as, helping to open tricky food packages, handing out extra napkins or utensils, and wiping down tables. Two volunteers are requested for each time slot; there are two time slots per day, 11-noon and noon-1pm.  Feel free to sign up for one or both hours. Volunteers need to be parents or legal guardians. This is a fun way to get into the school and help out!
