From School Leadership

January 04, 2024

Dear Park Spanish Immersion Elementary School Community:

We hope that you and your family had a great "winter break," and it has been great to see the kids' excitement coming back to school! Within our learning community, we are working on re-establishing our routines and norms with students. It's a great time to review and reset goals!

We are excited to see students' creativity and brilliance next Monday at our PTO-sponsored Imagination and Inventors' Fair. Please see below for more information, and as a reminder, we will be at the Middle School this year to provide a little more space for us to see the great projects!

Take care, and thank you for sharing your children with us!

Meet the PSI Staff

Meet the PSI Staff

In this section, we will be featuring some of our amazing PSI Staff so the community can get to know every adult in the building better, as we all work together to support all students at PSI!

This week we want to introduce you to three PSI Staff members. Sara Bernal is a first grade teacher, Sofia Wold is a substitute teacher and YEP assistant and Joshua Larson is a building substitute teacher. We are so happy to have them! Please help us welcome them to the PSI Community.

K-5 A-E Specialist Calendar

In our SLP elementary schools, our specialist classes rotate on an A, B, C, D, E day schedule. We do this so that students do not consistently miss classes on a particular calendar week day. Please see the January rotation schedule.

Get involved with the superintendent selection process

We’ve mailed a magnet postcard to SLP families with a QR code. We invite families to stay informed with real-time updates about the superintendent search. Right now, families can take an anonymous survey to help the school board understand the qualities you want in a superintendent. Please complete the survey by Jan. 18.

Join our team as a Special Education Paraprofessional!

View updates from Knutson Construction and St. Louis Park Public Schools about construction projects in the school district. December highlights include project milestones and progress for the High School, Middle School and Data Center.

Fun Fact: December 2023 is looking to be one of the warmest Decembers in 150 years! The average temperature at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport so far this month

is 33.5 degrees. The warmest December on record was 33.8 degrees in 1877 (MPR). Great weather for outdoor construction activities! But not so much for snow lovers...

Imagination and Inventors' Fair

Registration is open! Please fill it out at this link!

The 2024 PSI Science and Imagination Fair is almost here! There’s still plenty of time to create a project and present it on Monday, January 8th, 2024 from 6:00-7:30 pm at the Middle School Field House. Every grade from Kinder to 5th is encouraged to register and attend. Any and all projects that showcase creativity are welcome! Student works do not have to be a science project. Past projects have included catapults, observations of neighborhood birds, and sculptures, just to name a few. The goal of the fair is to encourage all families to participate and nurture our children's love of science and imagination!

We hope to see you and your family next Monday night at the Middle School!
