Burgess is
Leading the Way in helping Maine celebrate its 200 th birthday
In 1820, Maine broke away from Massachusetts to become a state-a good reason to celebrate. So the Maine Bicentennial Commission is preparing a year of festivities around Statehood Day on March 15, 2020. We're proud to have donated our services to create the Bicentennial website, , which  w as launched on October 2nd at a press conference at the Maine Historical Society.

Commission members, Maine Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap and Senator Bill Diamond, Chair, thanked us for doing such a wonderful job creating the new website, which focuses on gaining Patrons of the Bicentennial, as well as sparking contributions of time, ideas and money from the public. We've also created a press kit including a variety of print materials.
The site is a nexus of information about Maine's past, present and future, and a clearinghouse for events and other ways of celebrating the Bicentennial. We're proud that the site was developed and is hosted by our partner of many years, Farmington-based Aptuitiv. Like us, they donated their services, and owner Eric Tompkins joined us at the October 2 nd launch.
Things didn't look good recently for Fork Food Lab, Portland's shared commercial kitchen and food business incubator. Its owner announced it would close the space down, putting 25+ food-based businesses out on the street.
Yarmouth-based nonprofit The Sustainability Lab had a plan to save Fork, and engaged Burgess to bring out the media for a press conference (also on October 2nd!), where the plan was announced and Fork was given a new life.

We're glad to have helped gain coverage of the event on WCSH, WMTW and WGME, and in
Mainebiz and the Bangor Daily News
September saw the release of our new commercial for Central Maine Healthcare's Topsham Care Center (TCC), "They're Coming," which ran not only on TV but also at Midcoast movie theaters, and is still showing here. The campaign also carried through to radio and newspaper ads:
"They're Coming" is the culmination of a months-long campaign we've developed to successfully introduce the TCC, a new way of healthcare delivery for Maine. Located in Topsham Fair Mall, it brings a wide range of quality healthcare services right into the community.
Burgess Advertising & Marketing has been helping businesses and other organizations in northern New England grow for 30 years. We strive to capture the essence of each client's brand and promote it across the entire marketing spectrum -- digital and otherwise -- to give your brand its best shot at positive ROI.
It's that time of year: Becky Williamson, Tammy White (with our newest addition, Gertrude), Christina Hill and John Spritz.

A big thanks to all the clients, friends and others who turned out for our September 19th Open House. We were proud to show off our "new" offices at 6 Fundy Road in Falmouth, where we've been quietly but busily working for nearly 18 months.
The Open House was part of the regular Business After 5 series conducted by the Falmouth/Cumberland Community Chamber of Commerce. Co-sponsors were the accounting firm upstairs, Berry Talbot Royer (BTR), and the law firm next door at 8 Fundy Road, Barns Greenfield & Thornton (BG&T).

There was a delicious spread of Italian delicacies provided by Ricetta's, and a great haul for lucky door prize winners:
  • BTR donated a  gift certificate for Hugs Restaurant.
  • BG&T donated a Ricetta's gift certificate.
  • We donated an Amazon Kindle.
  • Our client, Back Cove Financial, donated an L.L. Bean blanket.
Maybe we should do this every year!
I've just returned, renewed and refreshed, from an eye-opening and scenic trip to Southeast Asia. I am reminded how grateful I am to live in our country, and especially our state of Maine.
Enjoy a safe Halloween tonight, and don't forget to vote next Tuesday, November 6.

October 1st marked the ten-year anniversary of the "pink ribbon" specialty license plates, of which more than 25,000 are brightening up the roads today.

Conceived and designed here at Burgess, they have raised more than $3 million to benefit equally the Maine Cancer Foundation, Maine Breast Cancer Coalition, and the Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program. Order your own pink ribbon plate here.
