Learning Gate News 2020-2021
From The Principal
When returning to school, take steps to protect others if you have been or think you have been exposed to COVID-19:
  • Check your student’s temperature before coming back to school on November 30, 2020.
  • Keep your student home if they are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 or any other communicable illness.
  • Do not give your student symptom reducing medications before sending them to school
  • If called to pick your student up from school due to COVID-19 symptoms, please do so promptly.
  • Make sure your child has a well-fitting mask that covers their mouth and nose or a gaiter that has been doubled over.
  • Contact the principal, Michelle Mason at 813-948-4190 or mmason@learninggate.org immediately if your student has come in contact with someone who has been exposed or who has tested positive for COVID 19 or if the student themselves has contracted the virus.

Thank you to all of our families for keeping positive, being flexible and working together with the school during this unprecedented time.

Holiday House
It’s almost Holiday House Time!

This is our Annual event where students have the opportunity to shop for their loved ones. We will be opening Heron Hall for in person learners to shop in a social distanced safe environment. eLearners will have a form to choose items and a shopper will select, bag & prepare the items for driveway pickup. All items are only $2 plus a service fee.

All students must pre-pay online to be able to shop. No cash/checks will be accepted.

We will not be giving out cookies & drinks this year. But we still need your help! Please do send in paper lunch size bags & paper grocery size bags (each campus).

We are still looking for any large scale holiday decorations. We want to make this year’s Holiday House spectacular for our students!!!

Volunteer Hours
Mr. Jim needs volunteers
I will be setting up a bird feeding station around the log cabin and have always wanted to figure out a way to set up a feeder dummy and then have the students get a bird to feed out of their hand. I am looking for parent volunteers to assist me with this project. Please email me if you can help: jim@learninggate.org
Thanks,
Jim

Recommendations for a successful shopping experience:
1. Arrive with a list of items you need.
2. Bring item(s) of clothing (shirt, skirt, shorts) that fit your child. Use that to compare sizes while in the store (as the fit of clothes may not be consistent across uniform stores/years).
3. Remember, keep the white tag on clothes in case you need to return them to the store for an exchange or store credit.
