Once Upon a Forest…….A Learning Gate Adventure!

Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 10am to 2pm at Hanna Campus
2 Parenting Hours!
A family friendly stroll through our Storybook Forest with games, activities & crafts emphasizing our love for reading. 

Each Grade will be highlighting a book theme:
Kindergarten- The Three Little Pigs
1st Grade- Dr. Seuss
2nd Grade- Charlotte’s Web
3rd Grade- The Magic School Bus
4th Grade- The Secret Garden
5th Grade- I Survived
6th Grade- Super Heroes
7th/8th Grade- Harry Potter
Many volunteers are still needed for each class, signups are below if you can send in needed items or volunteer your time.

Technology In Action at Lutz Lake Fern Campus
Students in Ms. Kara's 8th grade class are utilizing computers to do a 1960's scavenger hunt. They are looking up information about what was popular in the 60's in order to build background knowledge about the class novel "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton. By previewing what's popular at the time, they can better understand the plot, as well as the references that are made throughout the book.

Learning Gate has been scheduled for the 6th grade annual health screenings on February 7th beginning at 8:30 am. Information on the scoliosis screening was sent home on Wednesday, 1/30/19.  If your child wears glasses, be be sure to remind your child to have them on that day.

Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities








Dad's Club needs volunteers!  Come out and help us clean up our community and school. February 9th from 8am to 11am, We will be picking up litter along Hanna Rd. For those with kids under 13, we will pick up our school campus. Trash bags, trash pickers, and gloves will be provided. Please bring water, bug spray, and your volunteer form.  We will meet in front of Heron Hall.
Does anyone have the ability to make what are being used as chargers in this photo. We’d like about 20 to use at auction night. Thank you! Please contact Michele Northrup , michelen@learninggate.org
Florida State Fair Volunteers Needed
LGCS will have a booth at the Florida State Fair! Volunteers are needed to help set up the booth, monitor, and take the booth down.

The school will be hosting a family friendly literacy event on February 16th, 10am-2pm.
Chef Jill is in need of volunteers to help plan/organize crafts, activities and games for each grade level.
Have a special talent like face painting, balloon making, music? Like to dress up in character and read stories? Like to make crafts? Have a business that would like to host a booth? Any ideas welcome.

Looking for auction night tracker - must be tech savvy & good with spreadsheets/organizing. 25 hours available.

Library Volunteers
We need assistance during the times classes are coming in and out of the library. Volunteers will work the circulation desk for checking books in and out, assist the children with locating books, light cleaning, and shelf returned books. Opportunities available throughout the school year!
