Book Sale May 19-20 |
Join us this month for the Friends of the Library Book Sale in the Library Program Room! Pick up some summer reads for your travel plans and lazy days.
Saturday, May 19 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. (members only : 9 - 10 a.m.)
Sunday, May 20 Noon - 3 p.m. ($5 Bag Sale)
Members of the Friends can get into Saturday sales at 9 a.m., an hour before the sale officially begins (and an hour before the Library opens).
Sunday sales are bag sales, where you purchase a large shopping bag for $5 and fill it with whatever books you like.
Membership is only $10 per year for individuals, $20 per year for family, or $200 for a lifetime membership, and you can join on the spot at every sale to get in immediately. Visit the Friends website for information about upcoming book sales and becoming a member. |
Digital Storytelling Workshop |
Sunnyvale Public Library is hosting a special Digital Storytelling Workshop this summer.
Wednesday, July 11, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

- Ways you have seen the community change?

Discover Hidden Messages in the Library |
BluuBeam technology is a way for the Library to send alerts directly to your smartphone while you are in the building about upcoming programs, new title releases and more. Learn about books and topics of interest to you because of where you are in the Library. Think of it as a "virtual tap on the shoulder". Big History of Humans Mondays, May 7, 14, 7 p.m. Complete list of topics.
The Big History of Humans identifies the major events in global human history and connects these events using the idea of evolving complexity. Join Dr. John Hostettler, retired SJSU professor, for five presentations based on Big History courses taught at high schools and colleges and online by the Big History Project funded by the Gates Foundation.
Sewing Lab Tuesdays, May 8, 15, 22, 29, noon - 2 p.m.
Experienced adult sewists, with developed personal projects, are invited to use the Sewing Lab's sewing machines and basic tools to aid in either the creation or completion of a personal sewing project. Skilled volunteers staff the Sewing Lab and offer guidance with the use of the machines and tools. The Sewing Lab is an adults-only space and shared resource that aims to support a community of sewists, as part of the Library's Maker Services. For ages 18 and over.
Be the Boss: Taking Charge of Your Career Through Business Ownership Tuesday, May 8, 7 p.m.
Learn different small business ownership options to give you the flexibility and lifestyle you want. Topics include funding options for starting a business from scratch, buying an existing business or buying a franchise. Presented by small business consultant Brian Kuepper of FranNet.
Adults Create: Tie Dye Wednesday, May 9, 7 p.m.

Have you wanted to try LinkedIn and didn't know where to start? Learn about LinkedIn, how to make a profile, and how to navigate this professional social network in this basic instruction class. Bring your own laptop or tablet and follow along.
June Ballot Propositions: Pros and Cons Saturday, May 12, 3 p.m.
Learn about the ballot propositions on the June 18 ballot. The League of Women Voters will present the background, likely effects and what supporters and opponents are saying about the five state proposition and one Bay Area proposition.
Sunday Music Series: Celtic Rose Sunday, May 13, 3 p.m.
Join us for a musical tour of the British Isles with lute, guitar, tin whistle, and drum with Celtic Rose. Listen and learn about songs from famous composers of the 17 to 20 centuries and oral traditions of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.
