 Greetings!
Sorting the Fish ~ Preparing People for Sacraments Part III
It is absolutely imperative that before someone, either a child or an adult, is admitted to a sacramental preparation process that you have a recently verified baptismal certificate or letter. There is no way to be certain where the person is in their sacramental journey without this cornerstone piece.

Statutes for the RCIA, particular law for the United States, a few tidbits:

"Since children who have reached the age of reason are considered, for purposes of Christian Initiation to be adults (Canon 852.1) their formation should follow the general pattern of the ordinary catechumenate as far as possible..." #18

"nor should they receive the sacraments of initiation in any other sequence that that determined in the ritual of Christian initiation. " #19

under uncatechized baptized adult Catholics (those who have reached the age of reason):
""in order to maintain the interrelationship and sequence of confirmation and eucharist as defined in Canon 842.2, priests who lack the faculty to confirm should seek it from the diocesan bishop..." # 29

"The confirmation of such candidates for reception should not be deferred nor should they be admitted to the Eucharist until they are confirmed." #35

Next Steps in Our Local Synodal Process
We have completed the scheduled discernment sessions in the deaneries and have completed the collection of electronic date.

The data gathered has been summarized by two independent sources.

The Steering Committee has met in prayer to discern key elements of each of the reports.

The draft of the diocesan story is here:

Eucharistic Congress June 17 -18, 2022
Keep your calendars open for our annual Eucharistic Congress, to be held on June 17 at Queen of Peace in Gainesville and on June 18 at St, Joseph in Jacksonville. The program and speakers will be essentially the same in both locations. Masses and keynote presentations will be livestreamed.

The only event that needs a pre-registration are the children's tracks that will be held only in Jacksonville. In order for the team to provide a safe environment with enough volunteers and materials, families are asked to register at least one week prior using the forms below. We cannot guarantee space for anyone who is not registered.

The Eucharistic Congress website has schedules, speaker information, procession information, directions, etc.

This weekend is also the kickoff weekend for the National Eucharistic Revival and the diocesan level activities

Real Presence: What does it mean?
Why does it matter?

Bishop Estevez is asking every pastor to send at least one representative to the week to become a facilitator for further studies at the parish level. This person should be involved in adult faith formation and be willing to share what they learn during this week with other members of the parish.

I have made a deal for discounts on Dr. O'Malley's two books:

Real Presence: What Does It Mean and Why Does it Matter (covered during the week)

Becoming Eucharistic People: The Hope and Promise of Parish Life.

Both have a cover price of $14.95. The deal I have negotiated until July 18 is $10 each with free shipping to my office. Each book has a free downloadable study guide. I have stock in now.

Why Are You Afraid?
Gary Zimak
May 24th 3:00 PM

In this webinar, Gary Zimak, bestselling author of Give Up Worry for Lent!, looks at the emotion of fear and how it affects us—at home, in the workplace, and in our relationship with God. By exploring the Biblical accounts of two famous fear-producing storms, Zimak will offer practical advice for dealing with our own storms. Even if we can't stop ourselves from being afraid, we can control how we respond. And, just like the apostles in the boat, the best response always involves turning to Jesus.
