Featuring Connecticut's Amazing Land Trusts
A Storybook Adventure
Steep Rock Association has teamed up with Gunn Memorial Library to offer a storied adventure that goes beyond the pages! At Steep Rock's Macricostas Preserve , children of all ages can enjoy a StoryWalk® trail featuring the pages of a nature-based children's book, selected and changed out each season. Rory Larson, Steep Rock's Conservation and Program Leader describes the 0.5-mile walk as " a level, easy, and fun bout through the diverse environs" and notes that the pages of the selected book are spaced throughout the trail, positioned low and at the trail's edge to make it easy for kids to step right up...
Get the Grist of It!
In light of social distancing measures, Joshua's Trust has made its Gurleyville Grist Mill accessible via YouTube. Notably, this 19th-century grist mill is not a restoration project but what local historian Bruce Clouette refers to as "a snapshot in time" and contains a complete system of preserved milling equipment. The virtual tour walks through this preserved space, detailing the names and uses of the different pieces of equipment, and includes a look at elements not usually seen on the in-person tours...

Happy Trails to You!
Bolton Land Trust is inviting the community to discover, learn, and explore all that nature has to offer with their Passport to the Properties program. The program encourages people of all ages to get outside this summer and explore Bolton by visiting all of BLT's trails with a printable passport to stamp at each destination. Those who travel to all five trails just might win a prize...
Growing the Green Corridor
Aspetuck Land Trust 's socially distanced native plant sale at Gilbertie’s Farm in Easton was a big hit. Nearly 200 people purchased 700 native plants, shrubs and trees, creating " a great opportunity to get people excited about native plants that they can plant in their own yards that help us to promote biodiversity in the landscape..." as Executive Director, David Brant notes in the Easton Courier . The native plant sale contributed to an even greater cause, promoting the Green Corridor Initiative , engaging homeowners in native planting, and encouraging people to sign the Green Corridor pledge...
CLCC land and wave
It’s summertime! If you are planning a staycation or seeking a new place to visit this weekend, then look no further than your local land trust.

Whether you are a history buff, a gardener, or just love a good book, Connecticut’s land trusts continue to deliver creative, fun, and interesting options to keep you (and your kids) busy and outdoors all summer long.

#LoveYourCTLandTrust—for giving us opportunities to kick back, relax, and “get away from it all” close to home.

Sincerely,
Amy
