Governor Lamont and Annie Lamont donate 45 acres to Bridgewater Land Trust
“It has been a pleasure to work with the Bridgewater Land Trust, I am confident they will be good stewards. The environmental benefits, protection of wildlife, and extension of a protected forest is truly a gift to the entire community.” - Annie Lamont

The Bridgewater Land Trust received an exciting donation of 45 acres of forestland, meadow, and wetlands along Lake Lillinonah with connecting frontage on Northrup Street. The donation came from Governor Ned Lamont and his wife Annie Lamont, who have owned the property since 2005. Now known as the Lamont Preserve, the land connects to The Nature Conservancy's Sunny Valley Preserve, extending the protected greenway and conserving core forest for wildlife habitat...

Constance Baker Motley and the NAACP litigated the Little Rock Nine case, one of the most important cases that tested the 1954 U.S. Supreme Court case Brown v. Board of Education which ruled segregated schools unconstitutional and ordered them to be integrated...

Black Birders Week began in 2020 to highlight African American naturalists and birders and to open the discussion of place in the natural world. Greetings!

June's #LoveYourCTLandTrust eNews showcases stories that should brighten up the already sunny summer days.

The generous land donation by Governor Ned Lamont and his wife Annie Lamont embodies their commitment to conservation and confidence in local land trusts as stewards of natural lands in perpetuity. The Black Birders Week event fostered unity and appreciation for nature. The new plaque at Constance Baker Motley Preserve honors the profound struggle for equality. Lastly, we commend the Southington Land Conservation Trust on its 50th anniversary.

#LoveYourCTLandTrust for preserving our natural heritage, promoting diversity, and forging ahead in our collective journey to safeguard Connecticut's precious lands and habitats.
Sincerely,

Emely
