Putting the Lowcountry Before Party
Friends,

This week, I had the opportunity to begin to right a serious challenge by veterans' families. My first legislative initiative to pass out of the Veterans Affairs Committee will finally end the arbitrary 10-year time limit on tuition assistance for families of veterans disabled or killed in action. This isn't a partisan issue, and I'm willing to work with anyone and everyone to ensure our veterans and their families get the care they deserve.

Additionally, I co-sponsored the bipartisan Whistleblower Protection Improvement Act. This bill will ensure the brave Americans who reveal waste, fraud, and abuse by the federal government aren't intimidated, harassed, or silenced for defending taxpayers.

I also gave an opening statement for a hearing on the maternal health crisis among black women in America. Quite frankly, It's entirely unacceptable black women are nearly three times more likely to die during childbirth than white women. We can and must do what we can to address this crisis, and one way we can is by making it easier for Americans to utilize tele-health technology. It's why I've co-sponsered several bills which will do this.

One final update: We'll be unveiling the winners of the 2021 Congressional High School Art Competition next week! We got an amazing response from local high schoolers across the Lowcountry, and thanks to our panel of judges, we were able to pick the winners. So stay tuned!

Sincerely,
Congresswoman Nancy Mace
Case of the Week
Mr. Wilson of Johns Island was let go from his job due to COVID in July of 2020. He worked remotely for a company with locations in two different states and ran into an unemployment filing issue which kept him from receiving assistance. Mr. Wilson was getting nowhere for months, and was in desperate need of help.

Our office jumped in, the issue was quickly resolved, and all benefits were released and received by the end of the following week.

“Just received notice I am set up for payment of all current and back benefits - such great news for my family! We can’t thank you enough for sticking with it!"
News of Note
Congresswoman Nancy Mace took to Fox News to raise the alarm on the rapid increase in spending and proposed tax increases from Democrats, and what this could mean for our economic recovery.

Congresswoman Nancy Mace shared her frustration at how the federal government's endless unemployment benefits are making it almost impossible for businesses in the Lowcountry to fill desperately needed jobs on Voice of America.

While Nancy Pelosi is talking about spending trillions on a “Civilian Climate Corps,” we could solve practically every infrastructure problem in the entire state of South Carolina – and just about every other state – for a fraction of the price.

Working in Washington
Congresswoman Nancy Mace's (SC-01) bill to remove the 10-year time limit on college assistance for the families of fallen and disabled veterans passed out of the Veterans' Affairs Committee as an amendment to H.R. 2167.

Congresswoman Nancy Mace (SC-01) announced she and a bipartisan group of Members of Congress will reintroduce "The Whistleblower Protection Improvement Act of 2021" to strengthen protections for federal employees who expose wrongdoing.
