TK-5th Grade Read Across America March 1st
(view last year's photo album below)
Dear Elementary Parents -

We are excited to launch another year of celebrating National Read Across America Day in elementary school on Friday, March 1st.

Students will participate in Power Hour and Character Dress in addition to other class-specific reading activities during the day.

Character Dress Day Students are invited to dress up as their favorite character in a book of their choice (fiction or non-fiction). They must also bring their chosen book to school from home, or borrow a book from MCS to represent their character dress choice. If students choose not to participate, they are required to wear their school uniform on this day -this is not a free dress day but a themed dress day.

Power Hour: This time is designated during the school day to read in class! Please look for communication from your teacher to see how each grade plans on making this day special.

Our goal is to continue to build passionate readers at MCS and advance literacy.  If you have any questions regarding this event, please contact your child's classroom teacher.  Thank you.

Celebrating Readers at MCS and Across the Country,

Reggie Biancalani
Elementary Principal

Join Faith Adventure to Haiti Postponed

The 2019 Haiti Faith Adventure Team is so incredibly thankful for all of your support and prayers in recent months.  It has been incredibly exciting to have our school family partner with us in prayer and preparation.

It is with a heavy heart that we must share that the trip has been postponed. Unfortunately, due to some political unrest currently unfolding across Haiti, road travel to our destination is not possible at this time. Our Church partner on the ground in Haiti, Pastor Sam Metelus, advised us to postpone the trip for the time being. To be clear, the trip is not cancelled, but it is postponed until a new date is set.

The team is dedicated to continuing our partnership with Glory Glory. Although we are saddened about this news, we wholeheartedly believe that God's timing is perfect, so we look forward with anticipation to eventually making this trip to Haiti.

All of the support that has been provided and items donated will be held until the trip is scheduled.

We ask that you please join us in praying for the people of Haiti, and for us as we are open and receiving God's guidance in allowing us to go in the future.

Chapel Recap
Why do we worship? Because HE IS WORTHY! Mrs. Harrison reminded us in Chapel this week what worship is and why our Savior is so worthy of our love, our devotion, our adoration, our time, our thoughts...our worship. Immediately following her message, we spent the majority of our time together praising our Savior, being led into a sacred time of worship from one of our middle school worship teams.

"Exalt the Lord our God and worship at His footstool; He is holy." Psalm 99:5

"I had never really thought about worship in that way before Mrs. Harrison explained what worship actually is. Then, I participated in worship in a deeper way than I ever have before. It changed the way I think about worship." - MCS student
Shalimar
MCS brought one of our favorite electives to Shalimar last week...Maker Space!  Mrs. Pfaff joined our students and brought several maker activities to share the joy of building and creating with the students at Shalimar Learning Center.  Our MCS students facilitated the activities and led a devotion for the Shalimar students.  Each visit Jesus deepens the relationships that have been forged, and He is using this partnership to mutually bless both organizations!  Stay tuned for our next Shalimar trip!

Middle School Grandparents and Special Friends Day
MCS was privileged to have an amazing group of grandparents and guests join us to view a sampling of middle school life. They viewed exhibits in the gym, followed by a student program and TK Burger lunch on the new patio. This is always one of our favorite campus events!

After-School Sports Safety Update
In an effort to keep our students safe and ensure proper supervision, MCS students may only attend after-school games when accompanied by a parent or authorized adult, with the exception of designated special events. Please note that any students remaining after third carpool will be directed to ASP, and students in ASP may not be released to watch after-school games unless a parent or authorized adult picks them up. Thank you for your partnership!
