Jan Jensen Artists is one of our newest members on the Business Council! Jan has always loved art in every form - fashion, music, and all things paint, oil, and acrylic. She is one of Kansas City's best local art dealers, but prior to becoming this, she taught music to local musicians and also played a role in the fashion industry. As a lover of art, Jan has a particular talent for connecting the dots between creatives and potential buyers. Her experience of many years in the industry has established her as a go-to resource for developing personal and professional relationships, organizing events to showcase local talent, and headlining speaking engagements. Just in the last 3 years, Jan has helped develop more than 5 new galleries and has also helped promote countless artists in the Kansas City area. Welcome aboard Jan!

Join us at the Pavilion at iWerx NKC on Thursday, March 23rd, 2023 as Eric Blattner of DIVVI Wealth Management discusses inflation, markets and Secure Act 2.0. 2022 saw inflation hit its highest levels in four decades, putting pressure on stock, bond and real estate prices. He will be sharing some recent observations regarding inflation and its impact on savers and investors. He'll also discuss some unique retirement and tax planning opportunities for individuals, families and businesses introduced in the Secure Act 2.0, which was passed by Congress last December.

Briarfest VIII - Levee Days |
Coming to North Kansas City for the first time, will be the 8th year version of Briar Fest, a two-day music festival at Macken Park, happening on September 8th and 9th. Due to it being in levee-surrounded North Kansas City, it will also be called Levee Days. This is a joint venture between North Kansas City Parks & Recreation and the Briarcliff Business Partners Alliance. Music from 19 different bands will offer country, rock 'n roll, and current Top 40 music. Besides being a fun event, it will also be free to attendees. This event will run from 3:00pm that Friday afternoon to Saturday evening. Before opening it up to food truck operators, North Kansas City food & beverage businesses will have the first opportunity to participate if they wish, but the event organizers will need to know by sometime in March, so as soon as you can, please let them know. Here is a flyer for you to review, which defines various sponsorship opportunities for the event. A sponsorship is a great way for North Kansas City businesses to get some good visibility and help a good cause. The Business Council will be sponsoring a booth and will have a presence at the festival to answer any questions you may have about the North Kansas City Business Council as well as the many businesses in North Kansas City. The North Kansas City Business Council has so much to be proud of this month! Congratulations to our very own, Executive Director, Rich Groves! He has been selected as the 2023 Grand Marshal of the Snake Saturday Parade! He was honored at the Grand Marshal Celebration at Harrah's VooDoo Lounge on Thursday, March 2nd, 2023 and will be riding in the Snake Saturday Parade on March 11th, 2023. When you see him at our upcoming events, be sure to congratulate him!

Lois owns 3 and Me Boutique. Her goal was to create a place for all shapes and styles to shop together! After starting out in the Iron District in 2020, she has since made boss-lady moves and now has a more permanent location at 422 Armour Road. She's also celebrating her one-year anniversary as a North Kansas City Business Council member this month! We are glad to have you in our business community!

Roxanne founded Above & Beyond Catering in 2006 and has been a member with the Business Council since 2007! Since then, they've been providing exceptional food with top-tier service! Since 1979, Carol has been working hard with her husband to achieve the success that is Meierotto Jewelers. Expanding their business as early as 1986, Carol's dedication was starting to pay off, all while raising seven young kids! In 2017, Meierotto Jewelers moved to their current location, 1900 Diamond Parkway in North Kansas City, joining the Business Council that same year. We are so grateful to have such a legend in North Kansas City!

Haley is the founder/CEO of WERQ Fitness Dance Fitness Studio! With a background in hip-hop, sports, group fitness & personal training, she brings an energetic passion to her cardio dance classes! She began her fitness career in 2004, while attending college at the University of Missouri. She launched WERQ in 2011, and now has her brand reaching thousands of "WERQaholics" every week! She is also celebrating her one-year Business Council membership anniversary this month!

North Kansas City High School Student Scholarship Opportunities |
To promote the pursuit of career-directed education and training after high school, the North Kansas City Business Council provides funds for scholarships to North Kansas City High School Seniors each year. Applications are available now and will be accepted through April 7th, 2023.
