Technology = Success

Over the past year, CAE has invested in assistive technology support for students, from increasing our available licenses for Glean and Otter Voice Notes and purchasing more Assistive Listening Devices to hiring our brand new Assistive Technology Specialist.


We encourage students to reach out to Tony Ferrari, our AT Specialist, to learn more about how they can integrate technology into their learning practices at UCLA.

Are you interested in guiding and shaping the future of CAE's services and support for UCLA's disabled community? We're now accepting applications from students for our Advisory Board. The board meets at least on a quarterly basis and student appointees can receive a $500 stipend for their particpiation. Applications are due June 16th!

What's Going On at CAE

Reminders from CAE

As a reminder,accommodation letters must be released in the CAE Student Portal at least one week (7 days) prior to the first accommodated exam. If you have not released your letters for the Spring term, you must do so by June 2nd to receive your accommodations on finals for the Spring quarter.


Please direct any questions or concerns around this guidance to your CAE Disability Specialist.

Don’t forget to submit your housing accommodation requests as soon as possible! Housing accommodations on a case-by-case basis, so earlier applications mean that if your request is approved, there is a higher likelihood that there will be a space in Housing that can accommodate your needs. 

Accommodation letter requests will be eligible for the Spring 2023 quarter through Week 9 (June 2nd). Beginning Week 10 (June 5th), CAE will review urgent/emergency-based requests and default all other request to Summer or Fall 2023 eligibility. Email the office for more information.

From Our Partners

Dr. Yang Zhang and his team at UCLA are conducting a study on virtual reality accessibility and opportunities for individuals who use a wheelchair. If you are a student who uses a wheelchair and would like to participate, you can sign up to participate using this form or email Dr. Zhang for more information.  

A team comprised of students in the Disability Studies capstone course are conducting a research study on understanding the experiences of students with access needs in STEM classrooms. To participate in this study, fill out this survey and direct any questions about your participation to tanyabearson@g.ucla.edu.

The Disability Studies Inclusion Lab is conducting a study on social media use in 18-42-year-old Californians who identify as disabled. The study will be conducted using individual interviews via Zoom. To sign up for an interview slot, email the lab.

A student in an environmental studies capstone course is conducting a case study on access to green space on UCLA's campus and how it affects the mental health of disabled students. For more information and to sign up for an interview slot, email the primary investigator.
