These are heavy times, and it’s understandable to feel discouraged. Courts are rolling back hard-won rights. Children are suffering in conflicts abroad. Energy costs strain household budgets. ICE continues to target vulnerable neighbors. The weight of it all is real — but so is our hope.
Last weekend, more than 8 million Americans took to the streets in the largest single-day protest in our nation’s history. Even as some courts fail us, others continue to uphold the law, the Constitution, and basic human dignity. And across the country, the cracks in the MAGA façade are widening.
Here at Community Shares of Greater Cincinnati, we see hope every day. We work directly with 45 frontline organizations that are defending rights, protecting neighbors, and advancing justice across our region. Their work fuels not only local resistance — but real, tangible local progress.
We may not be able to move Washington or Columbus right now, but local change is powerful. Our member charities have the relationships, expertise, and moral clarity to influence local leaders and to uplift, empower, and protect those at the margins who are bearing the brunt of today’s political climate.
