She brings a funder’s perspective to grant writing and research and has a passion for identifying funding opportunities that align with an organization’s objectives. 


Lauren holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Wilmington University and a B.A. in Philosophy from Salisbury University.

Often times grants may be written by more than one contributing writer, from NPA or from people within the organization seeking the grant. Brenda's strength in editing is making sure the grant is presented with one cohesive voice, so it reads smoothly. Having spoken five different languages, she enjoys the art of editing and has edited for technological brochures, personal memoirs, and even children's books.

Kirk holds a master's degree in nonprofit leadership from Seattle University and is a recurring trainer and speaker for the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

For more than a decade, Angela has successfully secured millions in grants for various causes and organizations. She is known for her ability to develop creative and effective fundraising strategies that align with an organization's mission and goals.  


Angela holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Social Sciences, attended Harvard University for a graduate degree, and is currently pursuing her Juris Doctorate at Northwestern California University School of Law. She has also completed various courses on fundraising, grant writing, and donor relationship management.

Dr. Laura Portolese - Grant & Course Writer

Dr. Portolese is an expert in research and evaluation, and a seasoned writer with more than six published textbooks, numerous articles, and of course, grants. Laura is able to easily identify the funder's needs and use persuasive writing techniques to achieve grant funder success for clients.

Dr. Lisa Price is a research biochemist, author (Demos Health Inc., NY), active primary care provider, National Institutes of Health Research Fellow, and playwright. She has written successful science-based private, as well as NIH grants, arts grants; and teaching curricula.


Lisa holds a certificate from the University of Washington in Biomedical Regulatory Affairs (CBMRA) which allows maneuvering through FDA regulatory processes associated with clinical trials. 

Emily Weiner

Emily Weiner - Grant Writer / Researcher

Emily’s grantwriting expertise is in identifying alignment between a nonprofit client and potential funders, and then demonstrating how supporting this nonprofit will enable a funder to accomplish their philanthropic goals. She has been writing grant proposals since 2008, including for arts, environmental, social service, scientific, and educational projects.


Emily earned a B.S. in Communications from the State University of New York Empire State College. Other foundations for her grantwriting skills are three decades as a journalist, six years managing a nonprofit theater’s membership program, 15 years attending or leading Puget Sound Grantwriters Association programs and more than 50 years participating in the performing arts.
