Welcome to SkillPointe Corner

The Skilled Trades industry is constantly evolving, making it essential for individuals to engage in upskilling, reskilling, and new skilling to foster career growth, business ownership, and entrepreneurship.

Upskilling involves learning updated information, refining old techniques, and enhancing existing skill sets. This practice is crucial for staying competitive not only among professionals already in the field but also with newcomers entering the industry.

Reskilling refers to the training needed for an entirely new role within the same industry. This includes acquiring new knowledge and skills in order to adapt to changing economic conditions, automation, and workforce demands.

New skilling entails gaining an entirely new set of skills for a different career path or business venture. As new careers emerge, such as Nuclear Technician, there is an increasing demand for individuals to develop new skills through certifications and badges.

Each month we will highlight a career, college, process and/or individual. We are accepting ideas and suggested stories, so please send them to logan@nacce.com with the subject “The SkillPointe Corner.”
