The National Writing Novel Writing Month Weekly Prompts are here! For every day in November, the Markham Arts Council will feature a writing prompt for poetry, short stories, photographs and more! Participate, post your art on Instagram and tag @artsinmarkham on Instagram for a chance to be featured on our social media! Also feel free to check out the hashtag #NaNoWriMo2021 for more information, as well as other interpretations of the prompts.

Artists are welcome to submit paintings, drawings, mixed media, sculptures and photography as entries to Passion to Perform.

The following prizes were awarded in $USD based on a jury selection: $7,000 for first place, $3,500 for second place and $1,500 for third place. Furthermore, a fund has been established to acquire additional shortlisted artwork, to become part of the permanent collection. Click below and learn more!

This pop song and album written by John Lennon is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. It expresses an ancient human longing to live peacefully with each other. This month, members of the Markham Group of Artists can show their artistic expression of the prompt: Imagine.
