Community Outreach

Being selfless regardless of one's condition or state of being. . . Loving one another and being of service is how we make a difference. Sharing your story to inspire others  ❤️ Join FTR and @legacyinitiativeofutah this Saturday August 6th at 1pm for Feed The Streets Outreach.
We meet just west of Pioneer park in the alley way. Please have at least 6 months of sobriety for this outreach. Donations such as water, granola bars, socks and hygiene products are greatly appreciated.

Ever yone wants to feel loved and apart of. Let's help the less fortunate feel that this Saturday!
Artistic Expression

With the new session of River Writing under way, inquiries are trickling in about how to sign up. The Fall session starts September 24th. It runs for 6 weeks and the cost is $80.  All proceeds go to Fit to Recover to further development and help serve our community.

The current session of writers will be sharing the fruits of their writing at a Poetry Reading on September 17th.  This will be an evening worth attending, as the energy of public reading is electric and contagious!

Going forward, Fit to Recover will be offering this empowering practice to clients of the  treatment centers with whom we have contracts. In the spirit of strength in all areas, we strive to offer multiple tools to support our growing population.

Sarah Kappos is eagerly developing programs for Artistic Expression as she joins the FTR team as a new employee this month.

The fire is catching on and these adventurous folks are taking their new-found abilities out onto the granite faces of our beautiful mountains.

Spotlight: Bruna Brito

She is a Jiu Jitsu champion, and is certified by Strongfirst instructor.  Bruna is a fitness instructor at FTR and can often be seen at the gym with her tiny toy poodle, Nina, in tow.

 When asked,
"What did you bring with you from Jiu Jitsu into the gym?"
She responds,
"I learned everything in Jiu Jitsu.  I learned values like respect, and determination, We had respect for our Master.  We would bow every time we would fight, every time we would leave the mat."

Bruna recently celebrated a personal record by pressing a 28 kg. kettlebell!  That is .42% of her body weight and a fierce accomplishment.  In her playful way, she high-fived everyone and danced on her tip-toes.

When asked why she picked FTR to call home, she said it is unlike any other gym.  Upon arrival in Salt Lake from Brazil, Bruna began touring Crossfit gyms in the valley.  At Fit to Recover she found a friendliness and a genuine caring among the people.  She also appreciates the level of vulnerability and the connection it affords.  At the other gyms, "nobody smiled."  It was so serious.  At FTR people talk to each other and support each other.  They hav

Bruna is currently studying psychology at the University of Utah, and hopes to bring together her passion for helping people grow strong both mentally and physically as a therapist and fitness instructor.   She earned her SUDC (Substance Use Disorder Counselor) certification this summer.  We are privileged to have such an ambitious and compassionate woman on our team.
