This Sunday, August 3, we welcome Lisa (Tweardy) Buckingham back to the pulpit as part of our Centennial Guest Preacher series. We hope you’re able to attend.

Lisa (Tweardy) Buckingham served as the youth leader here at Northmont from June 1997 – October 2004. She worked primarily with middle school and high school students with a focus on providing opportunities for students to worship God, study Scripture, build community, and offer service from a local to an international level.  Some of her favorite memories come from weekend retreats, summer mission trips, and the Summer’s Best Two Weeks summer camp she brought to the church.

Since leaving Northmont, Lisa has worked as the Director of Youth Ministries at Third Presbyterian Church in Uniontown, PA and as the Family Ministries Coordinator at Grace Church in Martins Ferry, OH.  Recently, she and her three amazing children – Olivia (age 16), James (age 15) and Connor (age 13) – relocated back to Uniontown, PA where she is currently working as a Family Resource Specialist with Head Start/Early Head Start of Fayette County. 

Lisa looks forward to worshiping together with her Northmont family.

PRISM 2025 GARAGE GIVEAWAY

CAN YOU HELP newly arriving international students with gently used housewares and furniture?

Northmont, through its Mission Committee, has supported PRISM for many years. PRISM (Pittsburgh Regional International Student Ministries), located in Bellefield Presbyterian Church in Oakland, uses the opportunity of students coming to Pittsburgh from around the world to conduct international ministry right here at home! PRISM offers evangelical hosting, pastoral counseling, and intercultural education experiences to international students and visiting scholars studying at universities in the Pittsburgh area.

PRISM conducts an annual “Garage Giveaway” (https://prismpgh.org/donor/), accepting donations of used goods that are still in good, fully functional condition and making them available at no cost to each year’s crop of new students. They're looking for: Desks, Tables, Chairs, Small Furniture, Small Appliances, Kitchen Items, Linens (No large furniture, TVs, computers, baby Items, or sharp knives)

2025 donations are received at Bellefield Church August 12-14 for the giveaway on August 16. Folks can drop them off themselves at that church, but Northmont’s Mission Committee is also available to pick up your donations at any time prior to those pickup dates. !! Monitors Needed !!

Computer Reach (CR) is an organization committed to "a computer literate world where the benefits of technology are shared by all". They contribute to this objective by making "technology available to people most in need through refurbished equipment, computer literacy, training, and support".

Northmont has supported Computer Reach for many years and now joins in their most recent plea for monitors. Currently, a shortage in the supply of used monitors for CR to refurbish is preventing them from making available to those in need as many computer bundles as possible.
