Ms. Wesson reads 'The Twelve Days of Christmas' pop-up book to Early Childhood!

Many years ago, Ms. Wesson received a gift from a second-grade student, Britney English. The book illustrated the 12 days of Christmas in the most beautiful way. Dr. Sherril English - Brittney's mother, gifted her the book, knowing her love for reading

On December 6th, 26 years later, Ms. Wesson had the pleasure of reading the book to our current Pre-K2 students. Forrest, Dr. English's granddaughter, was front and center during the reading. This occasion was a delightful reminder that life is filled with full circle moments!

In Case You Missed it!

Annual Christmas Store

We were incredibly blessed to have another successful year serving our community at the annual Christmas Store. Your generous support, allowed us to provide gifts for approximately 167 families with 500 children.

Families chose from an endless selection of coats, some of which were collected during our student council's coat drive. Parents picked from a variety of items like toys, bikes, and so much more! They received free gift wrapping as well.

Our dedicated staff and volunteers made this event unforgettable with their commitment to service and joyful energy. Volunteers from the Junior League of Dallas, the Dallas Stars, Jesuit Dallas, and Miss Texas served as as shoppers, gift wrappers, and Christmas Store helpers.

We extend a special thanks to everyone who participated in this year's Christmas Store!

1600 Luncheon

On December 13, 2022, we had another wonderful 1600 luncheon where guests got an exclusive look around campus. During a tour led by Anyika McMillan-Herod, guests learned the extraordinary history of St. Philip's School and Community Center. Dr. Flowers presented on the future of the organization, and our students did a fantastic job reciting the creed during their showcase.

Wages and Benefits

December 19, 2022

By Dr. Terry Flowers

"In our recent chapel service, a parallel was drawn between a reindeer guiding the way for gifts to be given, and a bright star guiding the wise men to the greatest gift! While this bright-nosed deer is not mentioned in the Bible, our students quickly connected to this concept. Jesus came to show the way and to model acceptable behavior and living."

COMMUNITY NEWS

Recycling Program

In June 2022, St. Philip's School and Community Center embarked on a quest to "go green." We enrolled in a Green Business Certification Program open to schools through the City of Dallas.

This program recognizes businesses that prevent waste, incorporate recycling, and promote reuse, reduction, and composting in their daily operations. Since we already follow these practices, we were inspired to apply and become "Green Business Certified."

On September 1, 2022, St. Philip's School & Community Center achieved "Bronze" status from the City of Dallas on the Green Business Score Card for making purposeful strides to reduce our carbon footprint.

We extend a special thanks to Kieairrah Seamster, Operations Assistant, for spearheading this initiative.

Volunteer Spotlight

Middle School - Service In Action

On Wednesdays, our middle school students spend time volunteering at Aunt Bette's Community Pantry, assisting the community with their grocery needs. Students are learning the value, impact, and meaning of service others. The middle schoolers are becoming more open-minded and are learning to define their personal morals and ethics. At St. Philip's we place an emphasis on community, personal development and excellence in and out of the classroom.
