Living the Good News and Journey to Adulthood team up to make Christmas cards for refugee children
|
|
Sunday school kids from J2A and LTGN classes made Christmas cards and wrote their messages in Spanish on Sunday, December 9. They joined with churches and others across the country to make and send a total of 3,000 Christmas cards for the children held in the Tornillo Detention Camp. This collective church effort is to send a small measure of comfort and friendship to these young people (ages 13-17) who have fled with their lives and are now stuck for endless months in a remote desert at the Mexican border, far away from home and family, and with federal government processes slow or unresponsive to processing their cases. Special thanks to Margaret Seiler for letting us know about this effort so that we could participate in a small way.
Godly Play, Living the Good News and Journey to Adulthood will not meet this Sunday, December 16.

Advent is a season of spiritual preparation for the miracle and joy of Christmas. During Advent, we often seek to express our gratitude for the many blessings in our life and in our community at Grace Church.
This year, Grace Church is partnering with organizations responding to the needs of local families by supporting Forestdale's Family Services with a New Toy Drive and a Coat Drive.
Additionally, we are supporting the California wildfire disaster relief efforts of The Episcopal Diocese of Northern California. Please do what you can to support our partner organizations this Christmas. See a flyer with more specifics
here
.
Donations envelopes for California wildfire disaster relief are on the Giving Tree table in the back of the church or by donating
online
.
Collection bins are in the Narthex for the Toy Drive and the Coat Drive (new
or gently used coats for adolescents and adults are needed).
You can also purchase toys directly for the Forestdale Toy Drive
online
