Qualicum Beach Time Capsule:

Presented by the Qualicum Beach Museum

J.C. Wilson Mill

Here is a photograph of logging during the 1920's at the J.C. Wilson Mill Site in Qualicum Beach. A steam donkey is loading a large log onto a truck with the driver (unknown male) standing beside the truck. Bill 'Donkey Puncher' Buss was one of the many local people employed at the mill, which produced fir timbers, dimensional lumber and shingles. The mill was located at the end of what is now Mill Road, on Arbutus Road. It was in operation until the mid-30s. There is now a mobile home park on the site. To learn more about this and other local mills, visit the QB Museum's permanent exhibit entitled 'Fish Trees and Folk'.

For more information click HERE to check out the Museum newsletter!

Here's a photo from today in (roughly) the same area; Arbutus and Mill! The land is now the location of The Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints. A few of the 'big trees' remain, otherwise it is all housing.

Family Day 2023 is Back!

Held on the last Sunday of May, the event includes a pancake breakfast at the Civic Center, a street parade down Second Avenue, and an afternoon of activities, entertainment, and food at the Community Playing Field. The day then wraps up with a free swim at Ravensong Aquatic Centre.

The generous support of the many volunteers, community partners and participants have made Family Day a success for over 4 decades. We look forward to seeing you all for a great day on May 28, 2023!

Join The QB Seniors Walk for Alzheimer’s

Pat Weber and Judy Southern will be participating in the Walk for Alzheimer’s on May 25th . It will begin at Berwick Qualicum Beach at 1:30 p.m. and go down the Dollymount trail, finishing back at Berwick for refreshments and goodies.

The Qualicum Beach Seniors’ Centre, both QB Berwick and Parksville Berwick, and the Gardens are registering teams. They will be registered under Oceanside. Each of the 4 teams will be registered separately and each participant will have their own link where sponsors can make a pledge.
