Housing is a Human Right

Community News

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of James “Tex” Martin. Tex was a fixture on the streets of Rochester for many years, a friend to all, and a mentor to many. He knew where to find a meal, a place to sleep, clothes to wear, and the right person to talk to. His knowledge and generosity were legendary. Everyone will feel his loss, from the people who are homeless to the community as a whole. We wish you peace, Tex.

The food was good, the company was even better, and everyone had a fun time. We hope to do another event soon.

The actual quote is, “But it really doesn’t matter with me now because I’ve been to the mountaintop… I’ve seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you, but I want you to know tonight that we, as a people, will get to the Promised Land.”
