No lockdown can stop God!
“No lockdown can stop our God from working!” That was the last line in the letter our Youth for Christ Spain National Director and his wife, Mark and Stephanie Dodrill, recently sent out. You may have read some of the testimonies in our recent EVERY newsletter of young lives God is changing through their ministry. You are part of that outreach, too, through your gifts and prayers.

Would you like one more story of God’s goodness that didn’t make the newsletter? Here it is, just for you, told in Stephanie’s own words:
In June we asked you to pray for our summer camps. We can joyfully say that every single request was granted. We adapted to the new restrictions and safety measures due to COVID-19. Parents trusted us and signed up their children and youth. We had a total of 330 campers and leaders over the five-week period. There was not a single COVID-19 infection.

We sensed God’s merciful protection in many ways. There were COVID-19 outbreaks in many areas around us, but not in Camp Berea! Our “not so sturdy” meeting tents are quite vulnerable to extreme weather, but several times when huge thunderheads were right on our doorstep they seemed to part and move around us. Other times, the temperature rose into the 100’s in some of the surrounding areas, but we were 8-10 degrees cooler at camp. We even had very few flies and very few injuries this year; Mark didn’t have to go to the emergency room once, an activity which normally takes a good part of his time during camps.

Now we don’t mean to say God always makes this kind of distinction between the circumstances of His people and of those around them. But it really happened for us this summer at camp.

Much more important than all of these details of grace at camp, we were able to see many who passed from darkness to light in a spiritual sense. Many non-Christians came and heard a clear presentation of the Gospel for the first time. Many youth on the edge of abandoning their faith had encounters with God that brought them back into His arms. Many were challenged to grow and take steps towards maturity and service to others. So thank you for your prayers, they were fully and graciously answered.
Praise God for his faithfulness, his protection, and his provision. Praise Him for the young people all over the world whose lives are changed forever because of the Youth for Christ camp experiences they had this summer.

If you support and pray for us regularly, thank you! We are so grateful. If you would like to get involved we welcome you! The need is great for financial and prayer partners. Please use the response device on the front of this letter to get involved in what God is doing through Youth for Christ International.
With gratitude,

Dave Brereton
International Director of Youth for Christ
