Nobody was there for me
Nobody was really there to teach me otherwise

My heart aches for young people like Ali, kids going through Christmas in abusive families, in situations where they are struggling just to eat, where their pain and suffering leads them into destructive lifestyles. Sadly, many of them don’t have hope, have little peace, and can’t celebrate the joy of Christmas because they don’t know Jesus, the reason for Christmas.

Ali, from south Asia, who you may have read about in the previous EVERY email newsletter, was one of those young people. Coming from such a family, poor, and abused, he was addicted to drugs and alcohol by age seven! Seven!

“Nobody was really there to teach me otherwise,” he says.
God had a plan

Thank God, He had a plan for Ali’s life. That plan included you! You, through your prayers and gifts, are sending Youth for Christ staff to be in just the right places at the right times — as they were for Ali. As Ali was pushed away with one set of hands, he was welcomed by another — Youth for Christ. Over time, as they loved and cared for him, the Youth for Christ staff were able to introduce him to Jesus, the Prince of Peace.
Calm, deep inside my heart

When he surrendered his life to Christ, Ali said, “(I felt) calm, deep inside my heart.” Praise God for what He is doing in the lives of young people around the world! Last year, through your partnership with Youth for Christ International, over 173,000 young people responded to the Gospel. In over 100 nations young people found peace through a new relationship with Christ. Thank you for being a vital part!

Stories like Ali’s (and Ihor’s, also in this month's emails) are both an encouragement and a challenge to you and me. An encouragement in seeing how God is working. A challenge in realizing you and I might be the “somebody” in God’s plan for reaching and teaching young people His Good News.

This Christmas would you be that “somebody?” Would you give a gift to help reach young people like Ali and Ihor around the world? Your gift of $35, $125, $831, $2021, or whatever the Lord leads you to give, can have a tremendous impact on young lives both now and for eternity.
Merry Christmas,

Dave Brereton
International Director of Youth for Christ
