Reston Town Center North Task Force Recommendations Report
At the last Board of Supervisor's meeting on Nov. 21 I shared the Reston Town Center North Task Force's Recommendations Report. As part of the redevelopment process for Reston Town Center North, the task force was charged with recommending the placement of future county public facilities. These facilities include the Reston Regional Library, Embry Rucker Shelter/supportive housing, a Health and Human Services Building, as well as a Park Authority Rec Center and athletic field. Priority was given to the location of the new future library and shelter since the current facilities are nearing the end of their operational lives. The timing for their replacement is becoming critical and the funding is available.
It should be noted that the community discussion is ongoing on possible interim uses of at least two county parcels pending funding and county approval processes. Some examples being discussed include a dog park, exercise circuit, accessible playground, walking trails, food truck cafe and pickleball courts.
The county is in very early stages of planning for the new facilities and the possible interim uses. I will keep you updated as more information is available, including community engagement opportunities. If you have questions, email my office at huntermill@fairfaxcounty.gov.
