This month is certainly full of many exciting things. This past week we celebrated a number of wonderful feast days including Saint John Vianney, patron of parish priests, and the Transfiguration of our Lord on Mount Horeb. Next Saturday, Aug 15th we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary into heaven. All this in just the first half of August, and there's still more to come!
On top of these wonderful feast days, our Principal, teachers and staff have been working hard to get our school ready for the fall, which starts on Monday, August 31st! I know that they are excited to see their classrooms filled with warmth and laughter again, and I know that the students are excited as well! I actually ran into one of our families yesterday when I went out to the food trucks on White Bear Ave and the excitement of the two boys about school resuming was very apparent! What a joy it was to see them yesterday. A beautiful reminder of the good times that are to come when all of our students are back!
Here at the church we have an exciting event taking place next weekend as well. On Saturday, August 15th, at the 5:00pm Mass, I will be officially installed as your Pastor here at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. I mentioned that the summer's been busy, so some things have fallen on the wayside, including sharing this wonderful news with my own family! Thankfully I remembered to at least tell my mom. :)
Unfortunately, as I am unable to have the whole parish attend physically, I have had to make the difficult decision to keep this Mass non-public and by invite-only. Those who have been invited are our parish leadership members so that they can represent our entire Presentation family. This includes: our Pastoral Council members, the Finance Council members, the School Advisory Committee members, our parish Trustees and staff. Unfortunate again, but I hope that you will al understand. Please do tune in to either that evening or the Sunday Mass, as I have also invited our Principal, Sue Lovegreen, to attend and introduce herself to our community as well.
How blessed we continue to be... may we acknowledge these blessings and give praise and thanksgiving to our Lord who loves us!
Continue to keep our parish, church and school, in your prayers, and if you remember, please throw a little prayer my way as well. Let's not doubt the love our Savior has for each of us, and may we continue to walk towards our Lord together as He calls His family back to Himself.
Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us!
